My only wish and I think people might've remembered me talking about this in detail about wanting to see a lot of this from blue dragon. I wished each character's shadow had more limit break type abilites, but I suppose they'll be saving that for the sequel where the users will have a more advanced knowledge of how to use the shadows.
Sath we'll get you don't worry I have a secret weapon that I've been waiting to unleash for quite sometime now and I plan to show it to you 4 days before the release of Blue Dragon and you will officially be a blue dragon fanboy :)

Nothing wrong with deciding it isn't for you, but you seemed pretty excited about it before.
Really like the boxart at first I thought they'd go with something more out there, but that definitely gets the job done. If I knew absolutely nothing about Blue Dragon prior seeing that case and the character looking sorta like a dbz character along with that cool dragon behind him I'd definitely purchase the game if I saw it in a store.

There was no way the demo could deliver such a thing really and the terrible english voice acting certainly didn't help much. The things I mentioned are what ultimately makes someone bare with turn based combat. Atleast thats how it is for me might be different for others.

I really do not care much for jRPGs any longer. It's hard to believe that I have literally wasted thousands of hours of my life, whiling away in games across this genre for pretty much, most the the almost 30 years I have been gaming. But when you consider that some of the best moments in videogaming history can be found in classics like Phantasy Star, and ChronoTrigger and Secret of Mana and Dragon Quest and Lunar, and Dragon Force and Far East of Eden and Shining Force and Landstalker and The Legend of Zelda and Shenmue and Grandia and Beyond Oasis and Skies of Arcadia and Panzer Dragoon Saga and tons of other jRPGs and jActionRPGs that I have played over the years, it is easy to see why a fella would waste so much of his time so.
Unfortunately, the jRPG has for the most part, stagnated as I have continued to grow. I desire a greater experience than most jRPG developers are willing to give these days, and so I find the entire experience, for the most part boring and tiring - especially after playing Panzer Dragoon Saga, which I feel is the epitome of the genre and one of an extreme small handful of games in the genre that was honestly attempting to evolve the genre into some more dynamic than what it has been since the original DG, FF and PS surfaced over 20 years ago and led the jRPG to dominance in the RPG space.
Ultimately, almost all jRPGs are still the same game that the original Phantasy Star/Final Fantasy/Dragon Quest were all those long years ago. They have gotten prettier, and maybe even a bit more "epicy", but they really have not actually done anything progressively different. For the most part, they all still follow the same tried and test patterns. Meanwhile, their Western counterparts, who actually inspired the creation of the jRPG, have evolved in leaps and bounds, especially in the last decade. Each studio producing wRPGs have a distinctive style, flavor and feeling all their own, that is not in any way interchangeable with products from their counterpart studios here in the West. And each iteration, these studios are bring more to the table, evolving the product by leaps and bounds. Perfect example: Mass Effect, Fable 2 and Oblivion are all wRPGs, yet are all distinctively extremely different experiences. Yet when I look at Lost Odyssey and Last Remnant, the similarities are almost appalling; outside of certain minutia, the overall experience between both titles, is going to be something remarkably the same. It's literally like, color by numbers game development.
All that said, maybe for nostalgia's sake, but I do have a hankering for a proper jRPG - I get that every once in a blue moon these days. Of the two demos that I have already played so far, Eternal Sonata is easily the better of the two. So ES is definitely going to take precedence over the purchase of Blue Dragon. Meanwhile, I have a gut feeling that Blue Dragon may be in possession of the more . . . epic story, and it is a story that I really want to see played out to it's end. So I think that I probably will wind up getting Blue Dragon, just not right away. Maybe if the games were not releasing a mere three weeks apart, I would likely pick up Blue Dragon on day of release, but honestly, I can only take so much jRPG at any one time before I have to walk away from the genre for a while and recharge my batteries on something else.
In the case that I cannot resist temptation and do pick up both games on each's day of release, then this will be the first time since Y2K that I have had the stomach to play multiple jRPGs back to back. But then Shenmue, Grandia 2 and Skies of Arcadia were instant classics and all bona fide masterpieces not to be missed by anyone. And I honestly do not know if Eternal Sonata, Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey are different enough and have as much of the right stuff going for them as those three Dreamcast classics from 2000, to warrant the purchase of all three of them less than six months apart - each.
I guess we will see soon enough.
Man but those classics you mentioned bring back good old times. I really loved Skies of arcadia and Shenmue. When I first got on that airship on Skies of arcadia it was an instant classic. With shenmue it was everything. I must play Grandia 2 now that you have mentioned it with the other 2 games.
I think new interesting characters, story, or game world even with the traditional aspects of the game are always worth the price of entry.
