Trying Grow Home is quite an experience. To tell you the truth, our first reaction to the game was basically "what the...?!!?" Clearly, Reflections' indie game is not really the kind of title you've played before, although the procedural animations and the exaggerated inertia of the main character may remind a bit of Octodad. It is however much simpler to play, with rather fun climbing mechanics (each trigger controls a hand, much like what the first Assassin's Creed wanted to include originally). If you're into exploration, gardening and Zen atmospheres, it might be worth a look. Honestly though, we haven't played long enough to tell you what we think about the game.
Update: Last video added.
It did not take long between the announcement of Grow Home and its release. If Driftwood will be able to understand the gameplay, you may have videos of this curiosity. Meanwhile, here are the launch trailer, a Q&A and some screenshots.
The experiment from an 8-person-team at Ubisoft Reflections resulted in Grow Home, a climbing game inspired by Wall•E and Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. Players control BUD (Botanical Utility Droid) in an open-world filled with floating islands and have to find the Star Plant. More details, teaser and first screens inside. The PC title will launch on February 4th on Steam.
