GSY Live PC Xbox One

As we had suspected, our livestream of Lifeless Planet didn't really attract many people. As the game was originally released on PC a year ago, that was to be expected, but still, we were hoping some console players would be a bit more curious. That being said, now is your chance to catch up and see if there is anything you like in David Board's game. Also worth mentioning is that we were using our new streaming software (and newly aquired Windows 8 for the capture PC) and that the quality is just excellent. Of course, you'll realize it even more when we stream a 60 fps game, but if you want to find out now, check out our French stream test replay right here.

As you know, we'll be showing you guys Lifeless Planet in a new GSY Live this evening, but until then you might want to take a look at our two direct feed videos of the Xbox One version. You'll have to wait until the livestrea to know what we think about the game though.

The embargo on the Xbox One version of Lifeless Planet being lifted tomorrow, we'll be happy to host a new livestream so we can tell you what we think of it. Join us at 9:30 p.m. CET if you have any questions to ask us.

When Lifeless Planet was released on PC last year we completely fell under its spell, so we think it's great news that David Board's game is about to land on Xbox One. On May 13, you'll be able to go where no man has gone before for $19.99 (US) £15.99 (UK) €19.99 (Europe).

If you need a complete change of scene but you don't play on PC, the indie title Lifeless Planet is coming to Xbox One.

Having already been captivated by the preview version, we're happy to confirm that the final release of David Board's Lifeless Planet lives up to our expectations in every way. Radically exotic, the discovery of what this Lifeless Planet holds delivers a nice mix of platforming, puzzle solving and, most importantly, a great deal of exploration. The sense of loneliness and desperation weights heavily on the hero and is further amplified by the discrete narration and sparse use of musical cues. The mix of melancholy string instruments layered with surreal electronic sounds recalls not only the wonderful score from the Mass Effect series but also the mysterious atmosphere of Cities of Gold, a wonderful animated series our older readers may remember. If you're an explorer at heart this is a game not to miss provided you're playing on a PC, of course.

GSY Preview PC

After playing the PAX demo of Lifeless Planet a couple of months ago, we were finally able to discover the very beginning of the game in its beta form. David Board's title is indeed available on Steam for those willing to get early access to it. It took us about 90 minutes to complete this "demo" and it's now time for you to find out what we think of it. Of course, as usual, you also get to watch four gameplay videos that you can enjoy in glorious 1080p, whether you wish to download them or stream them with our brand new magic system.

Something like four months ago, we told you about Lifeless Planet, an independent game which looked really promising in many aspects. Last Friday, developer David Board was kind enough to contact us to propose immediate access to the alpha demo which was shown at PAX Prime. We couldn't miss such an opportunity to share the two gameplay videos we made today. Although this version of the game is far from being final, there is clearly something mesmerizing about exploring this desolate planet. With a mix of exploration, platform, puzzles and adventure, this could be quite an exotic experience for all those wishing to boldly go where no man has gone before.

If, like us, you sometimes get a bit fed up with the buzz that goes with all the AAA titles out there, if you're interested in what the indie scene has to offer, then Lifeless Planet might be worth checking out. As impatient as we are to try the game ourselves, we still have to be patient as no release date has been given yet. All we know is that David Board's title will be available on PC, Mac and mobile platforms - and that there is a chance it appears on Xbox Live if it's successful enough. With iconic games such as Out of this World, The Dig, ICO and LIMBO in mind, David Board is working with a very small team and his ambition with Lifeless Planet is to deliver a good story built around solid gameplay mechanics based on exploration and puzzles. We don't know about you, but we love the concept behind this upcoming indie title. Make sure to have a look at the game's official website when you get a chance.
Update: David Board himself sent us a good quality version of the game's trailer, many thanks to him for this :)
