It's time to discover the Tower of Sisyphus, which is part of Returnal's new free content that also includes the possibility to play the main game in co-op mode. Sony and Housemarque released a presentation video of the endless mode, which incorporates story elements, new weapons and new enemies.
The main technical issue we had with our review copy of Returnal were the visible frame drops which could occur when heavy stuff was happening on the screen and all the special effects and particles kicked in. We're happy to report that the Day One patch has smoothed things out almost perfectly, as proven by our fast-paced killing spree inside.
We completed our first playthrough of Returnal in 21 hours and only 13 deaths, which shows that the game may be challenging but it's not impossible to beat by any means. We added a few extra hours to collect the six sunface fragments required to see the real ending (after beating the final boss a second time) and we loved every minute of it. Long story short, it's a great exclusive, it's much more ambitious than anything Housemarque has done before and it deserves its price tag (though we're not too happy that PS5 exclusives have become more expensive this gen). Check out our videos and let us know what you think!
We only received Returnal less than a couple of days ago so we can't say much about it and we can't show much either. Here's a short gameplay clip presenting the very beginning of the adventure, but if you're interested and you don't mind us speaking French mostly, we'll be live playing the game this Thursday at 5pm CEST. Obviously, if you wish to drop by to ask some questions, feel free to do so, we'll answer in English.
Update: The replay of our French livestream has been added to the news article.
