The Callisto Protocol was not perfect but it was a pretty effective survival horror game that was just a little too short and somehow frustrating because of its combat system against multiple enemies. That said, the game looked really good, especially in Fidelity mode with the Ray Tracing effects. If you wanted to enjoy smoother frame rates, you had to drop RT and go for the Performance mode, but now, thanks to the PS5 Pro update, it's possible to enjoy 4K/60 and RT all in one package. It's probably not actual 4K as there is also a 4K/40fps mode for VRR displays, but image quality seems excellent from what we've seen - and so is frame rate. There's even a 8K/30 mode which can even be selected on a 4K display, with downsampling in action for those not wealthy enough to afford an 8K screen.

The Callisto Protocol has been out for a week now but since we only got access to the game on launch day, we preferred to wait a bit to have time to play some of it before posting any coverage. This allowed us to see the first seven hours of the adventure and to record a gameplay sequence which takes place about five hours in. We also invited our good friend John Linneman from Digital Foundry to talk about the game in a new GSY Offline video in English.

We don't know about you but we are truly looking forward to playing The Callisto Protocol and we surely hope it will be exactly what we expect it to be, a great Dead Space-like eleven years after Dead Space 2, the best episode in EA's series, came out. As the game will be available on December 2, it's time for a launch trailer, on YouTube as usual.

After two years of absence, Gamescom is back, but for the first time since its creation back in 2009, we h'aven't gone to Cologne to cover the event. We're also running a bit late for the coverage of the opening night yesterday, but since we're hard at work on two big reviews, we were too busy to post the few assets which came out. Better late than never, though as usual now, most of the trailers which came out are only available on YouTube. Let's start with The Callisto Protocol which surprisingly hasn't been delayed to 2023 yet. We truly hope it'll stay this way as we're really looking forward to playing this Dead Space lookalike this December.

In case you hadn't noticed the similarities between The Callisto Protocol and Dead Space, the following gameplay video should make them very clear. From the animations to the overall game feel, it looks a lot like EA's title. We're not complaining since we had given on the idea of a sequel anyway, but it still is particularly striking don't you think?

Striking Distance Studios, Inc. and KRAFTON, Inc. today announced that The Callisto Protocol, a new sci-fi survival horror game from the creator of Dead Space, will launch globally on Dec. 2, 2022. Built by a team of industry veterans led by game director Glen Schofield, The Callisto Protocol is a survival horror that fuses brutal combat with a terrifying sci-fi world. The game will be available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Striking Distance Studios, helmed by Dead Space creator Glen Schofield; announced its first game The Callisto Protocol. The title is described as a "next-generation take on survival horror" that takes place on Jupiter’s dead moon in 2320 and task the players with escaping the maximum security Black Iron Prison while discovering its dark secrets. Set to release in 2022 for PC and consoles.
