The Casting of Frank Stone marks the 2024 return of Supermassive Games to a genre they have somehow invented, but this time, instead of creating their own game world, they worked with Behavior Interactive to bring the Dead by Daylight franchise into a new genre. From what we've seen, it's pretty engaging and effective, though it most certainly won't convince those who never really liked Until Dawn, Hidden Agenda, The Dark Pictures Anthology series or The Quarry. The way the game plays is very similar obviously, but the studio tried to add a few simple environmental puzzles and more natural character interactions (inspired by Naughty Dog's optional conversation system in TLOU and UC4).
