then below is a simple Introduction about oneechanbara series prequels title on PS2
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Let me explain to you about what is "Oneechanabara" series game.
Oneechanabara is original come from the PS2 console.it's a 3rd person action game.
develop by Tamsoft, Publish by D3 publisher.
the main character is called "Aya".(as you can see in the screenshot)
The prequels 4 titles before 'Oneechanabara X' , are all on the PS2 console.
[simple 2000 vol.61]-oneechan bara
[simple 2000 vol.80]-oneechan puru (oneechan bara special edition)
[simple 2000 vol.90]-oneechanbasa2
[simple 2000 vol.101]-oneechanpon (oneechanbasa2 special edition)
Well, here is a link to publisher for the PS2 versions of this game. For some reason, It does not give a direct like to the page we want. So.....
On the top page, highlight the "Simple" button and click on Simple 2000.
Find Vol 101 and click it. It will bring you to the page for the latest version of this game on the PS2 that came out last month. There is even a sample movie.
http://www.d3p.co.jp/
I have a PS2 that plays Japanese game and I have the all 4 versions of this game that came out.
It was vol 61,80, 90 and 101.
Vol 101 is a special release of vol 90, so it is the same game with some new characters, costumes and music.
The gameplay is VERY good. It is fast paced action and the controls are great You can jump with the "X" button (double jump with XX), weapon attack with the "Square" button, kick with the "triangle" button , do a special attack with the "Circle" button, and do a life-draining special by hitting the "triangle and circle" buttons. Each character has unique special attacks. Also, there is a very deep combo system, which is triggered by the timing of button presses on the "X" button. The timing is different for all characters, and the combos also branch, so there are different paths to them.
addtion:
there are still other attack action i havn't mention above.
beside the normal "Square" button attack, another action is called "cool combination attack". it's more powerful than normal attack.
in order to use the cool combination attack, you have to Grasps the timing of the press button timing.
if you used it successful, there will Vertical and Horizon lines special effect happen. (could be 3times more powerful than normal attack).
there are still other apecial attack action. but i think it's enough to the Beginner like you never played this series for now.
What's neat is, the more you attack, the more you weapon (sword) gets covered in blood. It makes you attack timing slow down a bit, and if the sword gets completely covered, it will get stuck in the zombie as you attack. Holding the L1 button will cause the character to "swish" the sword and the blood will come off.
Vol 101 has a training mode that lets you practice the timing of these combos, which was helpful to me since I don't understand the Japanese text...hehe.
The only dig I have on the game is that it can be repetitive. Each version of the game only has 6 levels, but really only 3 since you play each of the levels twice and go different routes with maybe a couple of new rooms thrown in.
The replay comes in heavily by leveling up your character, and what is called the "Quest" mode, which are basically all your unlockables.
As you play the game and kill zombies, they will drop yellow and red orbs. The yellow orbs are experience points, and the better combo attacks you use, the more experience you get. When you complete a level, it tallies your experience points, and you gain levels. Gaining a level will give you 3 points you can add to your character. The 5 areas you can level up are (1) attack power, (2) vitality (life bar) , (3) reach (how far you sword will attack), (4) speed, and (5) ??? - which you basically just fill to unlock a new costume. You have to play the game a LOT to fill all these.
The red orbs fill up a rage counter. If the rage counter fills up, your character goes into beserk mode and the attack power get a big boost. However, your life also drains, and you take more damage. You can get items to get you out of this mode.
The quests are along the lines of "kill the boss" really fast on each level, or "kill the boss in rage mode" on each level, or "kill X many zombies" on each level....The unlockables are screen wallpapers, new characters and new costumes/
When you beat the game, you unlock a harder difficulty. The final difficulty, berserk mode is great....they ONLY drop red orbs and you are beserk the entire game.
There is also a survival mode which is a good way to level up. Sometimes, the boss on a level is just too powerfull until you level up. This is the best way to go...
This game doesn't appeal to me at all. The level design sucks. The "monsters" are of really poor design as well. Nah, nothing special here. Maybe some gameplay video's could convince me.
to complete understand the whole "battle system",otherwise, my above post is only
a "simple Introduction" to the players in japan and usa, european who really understand what's this series game.
By the way, according to the japanese Famitsu weekly magazine,
the game now are only 40% complete. yeah, that's right, the above screenshot
you see are only 40% of final product.
the Attack rhythm in the prequels series title are much faster then Bullet witch.
Bullet witch only 30 framerate/sec ,but oneechanbara series are all 60 framerate/sec.
and the speed of the gameplay part in my experience,i can say it Certain much faster
than someone says above like "Dead Rising" or "Billet witch".From my over 20 years TV Games experience, these two games are too slow from my point.
you want to know how fast speed in the oneechanbara? try to make your character become to "beserk mode", it's extreme Violence.
whats happening to the game industry
whats happening to the game industry
has sell 230 thousand copies in Japan. you can just keep Ridicule to these people.
Don't forget it's a Budget game at $20 usd price. [about 2000 japanese dollar]
think about why the series call "simple 2000 series".
From what i know about, the japanese player will buy it, some usa player will buy it too, and some of european player also will buy it.
i believe you never see the japanese 2ch forum and oneechanbara forum in gamespot. there are lot of people there like this series games.
