the graphics are in no way next gen, looks like high res VF4 Evo, only in the close up cutscenes do they actually look better, and yes, the "next gen" plastic skin effect is crap, why do devs keep bloody using it.

Cause that's the way your skin reflects ambient and direct light, especially sweaty fighters.

No screen will do this game justice, Wait until you see it in motion! other than that Who Cares about graphics when it comes to fighter games, it's all about the gameplay!

The graphics in screenshots 7 and 8 look great. The cloth on the Ryu looking guy is really well done.

This game looks way, way better than VF4 Evolution. These screenshots are a lot better than the last batch, not in quality but composition..they look relatively crappy but the game looks awesome in motion.

VF5 is gonna own.

Yea, VF5 looks way better than Virtua Fighter 4. Virtua Fighter 4 wasn't exactly a graphical masterpiece, either..but it was great. I think VF5 looks pretty awesome in motion.

I really can't wait to pick this up. Feb. 20th can't come soon enough. I wonder if they'll wind up doing an "Evolution" version of VF5. Would be sweet if we got another 2 new characters out of 5, as we did in 4.

most game developers are essentially ignoring "next gen" and simply upping the rez on the same old game engines it seems.

Sega lost their way sometime ago. Once a premier game developer, they can now pretty much be counted on for underwhelming releases. Fortunately, Virtua ALWAYS sucked, so I don't have to feel bad ignoring this latest entry in the suckfest.

no SEGA made titles have been good lately, they are always glitchy and fall short of expectation. the graphics in this game are horrible, worse than DOA3 on xbox IMO, even if not from a technical standpoint, the overall look is far worse.

Sonic Team games, maybe. But hey if you're going to skip Virtua Fighter because of negative pre-conceptions that aren't true, more power to ya. Your loss tho. Everyone who thinks this is just a high res Virtua Fighter 4 is nuts..go look at VF4, it's not even close.

Sega made a lot of great games last generation, despite releasing quite a few horrible ones. The quality of their arcade releases has yet to decline, imo, although I would love a new Sega arcade racer.

Yeah, I mean when you have Gears Screens that looked gorgeous and these VF5 screens that do look a little like ass that's a totally logical statement. That said this is the worst I've seen the game look for some reason, though when it's in motion on the arcade machine it still doesn't look as good as gears. Not to mention your comment's extremely bias given a little thing called Crysis which is pretty much objectivly "the best looking game to date in action".

I just hope this version goes online because I'm not buying 2 joysticks to play it with friends who aren't even good at fighting games. And to the people criticizing the graphics, you really need to see this game running in HD. I'm telling you, it's a world of difference between this and actual in-your-face footage.

Eww, get rid of that plastic shiny effect! It looked ugly in EA games, it looks worse here on clothes! I've played DOA 4 and I've never noticed the plastic effect. The characters have this weird outline glow around them, but not like plastic.

Well, when VF4 came out it looked absolutely astonishing. I remember seeing it for the first time (and we don't usually get machines very fast over here) and the combination of it being the new VF and the visuals just... made my heart spin. (To a VF-style woosh sound, of course)

I was initially underwhelmed by the VF5 shots too, but watching it in motion it just trashes everything else with ease. In fact, the first shots of 4 had loads more impact thanks in no small part to the complete design overhaul. VF3 looked a bit weird - not that it didn't blow minds when it came out, but it was definitely an odd looking iteration of VF.
