Xbox 360 PS3

Koei showcases its brand new Dynasty-Warrior-like, Bladestorm, with a bunch of twenty screenshots going from average to... worst. We certainly appreciate the rising interest of japanese publishers for next-gen, but I'm not sure these guys are really helping.

What the hell does Koei doing? Its graphic is even worse than KUFTC on Xbox. Also, considering its trailer, fun of epic battle is nowhere to be found like Dynasty Warriors was. Like Total War series does, epic battle should have tactical and refreshing fun, but this one does not.

faces look great. hdr looks good. the rest needs a lot of work. i dont think i see any normal mapping. thats not good at all. kameo had thousands of guys on screen and looked better thanks to normal mapping.

I am fantastically unimpressed. The graphics are certainly more impressive that what the last generation afforded, but both the XBox 360 and PLAYSTATION 3 are capable of much more.

After KOEI's bullshot Guan-Yu presentation in 2005, you'd think that they would at least have pride and salvage some honor by trying a little harder...

To be fair, i kinda like the direction they are going artwise. But yeah, this is heaps and leaps below N3 tech wise. Seems like the only nextgen buzzwords I can mention from those screens are focalblurring and blooming. And blooming was even used to a great extent in last gen. There are no HDR lighting in this game - at least not yet. And no normalmapping either wich probably means the rest of the shader tech Koei uses are fairly lowtech also (hard to see from stills).

That said I do like the characters and with a few tech updates I'm pretty sure it would look pretty good.

Art style is nice, could do with a few more polygons though and much better textures, no excuse.

Does anyone else think this was a PS2 game which was changed to PS3/360 at the last minute ?

It's really not as bad as some of you are making out, i can see the good and bad in all screens.

And lets face it even if it was the best looking game around would many of you even contemplate buying it ?

99% of japanese devs dont know how to use the power of next gen consoles but i am sure this game will sell like hot cakes on ps3 just coz its on ps3....probably will beat Blue Dragon in sales aswell

Wierd, why didn't they just make it for PS2, they probably make more of their money back.

Xbox360 owners don't care about this game
Not enough PS3 owners to make a dent in sales and I doubt that many ps3 owners would care either

100 Million PS2 owners, if even 0.5% of those ps2 owners give a Sh&^T about this game then Koei is in the green
