These screens are simply beautiful although I'm a little worried about some of the low rez textures being used...still I can't wait to play it.

The lo-res textures ave always been there, look at the E3 trailer, look at the walls, they were never hi-res, I suppose the filters Kojima applied may have hidde them a bit, or maybe just camera angles. Still the game looks great.

They need better textures and the animations fixed up. Other than that, looks pretty decent.

It doesn't look terrible by any means...the textures on Snake are awesome.

Character models are amazing, but the environment textures and general filtering techiques make everything look flat...

Low poly and low-res environments + hi poly and hi-res characters = one way of outputting 1080 signal

This game is a long ways off, so it is looking very good so far, but not as good as Splinter Cell DA, which is almost at the end of its developement cycle. I'm guessing MGS will surpass Splinter Cell DA by just a little bit, when it finally ships, as it should.

For a game that is a year (or so) away, it looks damn good. Those complaining about the animations, the MGS sereis have always had those sytle of animation (soldiers walking, falling to the ground). I'm not sure they will change it.

Character models look excellent but like everyone says... the textures could use a work. But as phalanges says, this is a year + away and they always have time to upgrade. =D Looks good thus far, lets just hope they do put some nice high rez textures, cuz looking at beautiful models feels weird when there are only decent textures ;)

Some of those characters aren't even high poly. Whatever, the game will be killer, and the animations are unbelievable, but this is a far cry from the original trailer for sure.

only thing is ubisoft likes to doctor up the images for games so damn much you dont know what is in-game and whats not. Like this for example:

http://images.xboxyde.com/gallery/public/4279/906_...

Its so obviously touched up

only thing i see bad about MGS4 is that the indoor lighting effects aren't as great as they are outdoors.

MGS4 Kojima also downgraded his "real-time on real PS3 hardware" models and textures.
E3 2005 was a one BIG LIE and Kojima also rendered his trailers on PC graphics stations.
Compare how [for example hair and clothes of Snake] much poorer the game looks now:

Well, Kojima did say he's not interested in pretty graphics anymore. He said this in many interviews before MGS4 was even shown. I guess I could see that, because this game is ugly. The new Splinter Cell puts it to shame.

The game looked awesome before. I don't know why he would just get rid of all the great effects they used in the first trailer. Got a direct link to where he stated this?

Perhaps, someone would be kind enough to solve this Miller analogy for me...

flame : moths :: MGS4 : ???

a) Xboys
b) Xbots
c) Nintendrones
d) Nintendroids

LOL! :D

Maybe that's because they can't make the graphics as pretty as they have stated. I don't think they would downgrade the graphics of the game for no reason.

To enable 1080p.

For some reason people think upping the resolution has no effect on the framerate, but boy does it...
