great unboxing video, many thanks. The green 3ds doesn't look very appealing though ... Maybe the black version is nicer?

It's actually Aqua Blue. I don't like the black 3DS finger print magnet!

Im really unsure about the 3DS. I mean its really expensive for what it is.

Compared to the competition its pretty underpowered as well. Not too mention it needs to render a scene twice on the top screen and render the bottom screen.

Also in my opinion 3D is really gimmicky I don't like it in movies and im sure I won't like it on a console either.

Oh and one more nitpick it's too much like a toy. The little switches everywhere really are not modern. The PSP2 and the iPhone 4 look a lot better aesthetically.

Hi, I'm really grateful for this first ever unboxing of the 3DS but I think you should really really really have taken the time to edit/cut that looooong part where you are setting up your camera for the opening of the boxes. It would have saved some precious minutes and bandwith.

@Yarost; Yeah I totally agree...I'll cut that out and re-up the video. I couldn't view the video when editing it, well I could but it was running at less than 1 frame a second and I totally forgot I moved the camera during the unboxing. Cheers for pointing that out. Sorry. :(

Clearly you haven't played Burnout Paradise on a massive screen in 3D.

The 3D really works and it pretty awesome when it does...you really need to be sitting in the sweet spot because you can easily lose it. For example when playing Ridge Racer if you move 2 or 3 cm's to the right or the left you totally lose the 3D which to me is terrible, plus after just 15 minutes I needed to turn off the 3D because my eyes started to strain, I didn't feel like getting a headache.

@ Yeah, friends code are present the 3DS codes are only 12 digits in length. ;) Much more manageable.

yea that unfortunately is the problem with autostereoscopic displays, you need to be in the sweet spot, which is pretty small

that's why it'll probably take a couple of years for those to be as comfortable to use (as TV sets)as glasses 3D is today

looks nice, only thing i dont like as far as the hardware design goes, is that the hinge screen enclosure isnt flush with the rest of the device. i would have prefered if they either made the lower half slightly bigger, or make the top screen smaller.

based on what DJ just said, it seems glasses-less 3D isnt anywhere near ready yet. the whole "sweet spot" thing just seems rediculous, especially for a handheld, where chances are you WILL move it slightly while playing, i mean, 2-3cm isnt exactly a lot. otherwise it looks nice. just a bit too expensive for what it is. will probably do as i did with the DS, wait for the lite version, and get it for less.

I'm gonna test it out tomorrow but I can't imagine trying to play a 3D game whilst traveling or on public transport simply because you aren't still and your screen will be moving all over the place breaking the 3D and giving you massive eye strain.

I dont think the perspective is good for street fighter, i think most people would prefer the standard view even if its 1 player vs CPU. But Im not a street fighter fan so I dont care anyway, im waiting for DOAD.

Thanks alot DJ for the videos =)

yuck, that SSF43D sure is dissapointing footage. The visuals are somewhat decent and best the better iphoneish quality that is around (Epic Citadel Tech), but the animation is so BAD. And to think that half of the resolution and framerate is lost in this overpriced gimmick that is 3D? The tech. upgrade that fels even a generation more that is NGP can't come soon enough.

How are the effects of leaving the sweet spot? I mean does it just remove / change the 3D effect with movement or does it hurt the gaming experience / make it harder to control?

It hurts the gaming experience a lot because you can see/focus on the screen making the player to adjust the 3D slider or just turning it off completely.

In SF are you the character in the foreground or background the entire time? I guess since you lost the game there's no way of knowing if you can change the camera? :(

I'm surprised that moving the 3DS like that is so detrimental. All the news coverage for this handheld has been SOOOOOO positive. How is that possible?
