PS3

I'll be frank with you, we were expecting something a bit more spectacular than Untold Legend as the first PS3 game to unveils its ingame screenies. A lot more. Anyway, fans of this PSP-based hack'n slash will surely appreciate these images as they deserve to be. Can you tell I'm highly disappointed ?

you'd think that sony would not let this game be the first to show ingame footage....like it would be much better if the first was some really big title that came out with a bang.....nevertheless they look ok, but i'd doubt i'll look at this game again

This is the game that Josh Robinson (the guy who negatively previewed the PS3 and got fired) was working on and to be honest I can see why he was disillusioned. You wouldn't want to be working with something so powerful and seeing this kind of result everyday.

I really can't figure out how the game looks this bad, maybe Sony was really really confident that they would have a Spring launch. Oh well, there's still plenty of other PS3 games that are confirmed (as in visually) to look a lot better.

...........yeah, huh?

Haha this is the game josh robinson was working on? So does this mean they were TRYING to get a more graphical game out of this one, but couldn't? Of course not.. this is just one out of the bunch. There will be many beautiful looking ps3 games.

MGS4 man.. I just know that game is going to be incredible. It'll most likely force me to buy a ps3.

I'm actually glad the ps3 is delayed gives me time to see if I'll make a purchase more media should start showing up between now and E3. I'd love to see killzone's progress and mgs 4's progress as well. I'm guessing though that sony is waiting to see what halo 3 looks like and the types of things that will be in the game before they reveal killzone. Then again they can't really afford to wait around too much, but killzone will release when its ready. Nonetheless getting the type of attention it did at the last E3 people will be looking forward to seeing it in action.

One thing's for sure if there isn't atleast a playable ps3 on display at E3 then that might be pretty scary.

I don't think it does too badly considering it is using 1080p, the dev team were foolish to target 1080p in the first place they could have had a lot more on screen if they had gone with 720p.

It's unnecessary to go that far.
It does look better than a PS2 game, without a doubt, but it sure isn't pretty compared to what we have seen.

So you are saying this game looks better than the PS2's God of War as well?
Or Grand Turismo?

It is a Hi Def version of a PS2 game. Granted it is early in developement, but you can't think this is a next gen above PS2.

In the best complement you could pay these screengrabs is PS 2.5

It is odd they would release screenshots of a game this early in development. Hopefully for Sony's sake this is the exception not the rule for it's launch title quality.

I hope it has some, say, 8 coop online or something, because this won't sell even if it was the only game on PS3 at launch.

And for me I don't like a lot MGS, however a Tekken 6 or even Tekken 5 DR upgraded and with online and I'll be the first in the queue :)

I like Sony, but i'm a bit puzzled as to why this was the one of the first to be shown. heh.

We all know it's not the system, the thing is a beast, but this is SOE we are talkin about, so I guess i shouldn't be too surprised. It looks sub par for next gen.....but it still looks like a next gen game. It looks crisp and clean, the textures and charcter models could use some work. Here's to hoping the gameplay makes up for it!

The character designs are bleh. They really should have waited to show this when it was in better shape to show to the public. Really not a good game to try and show the power of the PS3 cause it fails. It honestly looks like an Xbox1 game with better textures.

hmmm well the ps3 is obviosly capable of far more, but hopefully this will set peoples hopes down a notch, because seriosly the amount of people that expect amazing things that are just not possible yet (killzone) its unreal. The ps3 has many limitations that are gonna take a while to get round, not because the ps3 isnt fast, but because its not very well designed to be quite honest. But the ps2 wasnt either, infact its was a shambles, but give developers enough time and they will get code running on it in all sorts of mad amazing ways. Long story short, sony fanboys seem to expecting something amazing from this console, tbh im not convinced yet. It has horsepower but sony is shaping up to do the exact same they did with the ps2. Lots and lots of promises that I dont think they will deliver. "PS2 will link with AOL" "PS3 will link with gamespy" "PS2 can render toy story in realtime" "PS3 is Live 4D....". I dont buy it. I have a 360 im happy with it, im getting a revolution it looks fun, but ps3 it just looks like another overpromise by sony and i just cant get excited about it.

I truely believe they wont try and lie anymore. More and more people have internet connections and there are now more gamers. Look what happened with the 360 launch, people associate the console with failing units and a blunder of a launch. If the PS2 had launched now, it probably wouldn't have survived the onslaught because of the problems it had.

Sony won't make that mistake again, they've seen what the 360 has to offer. The time of broken promises is over (apart from the 1080p they couldn't deliver straight off)

I'm just looking forward to looking at the different styles these two companies have. At the moment Sony have practically every major developer backing them.

well they may try harder this time round now that MS have an established fan base, but the ps2 really was just lie after lie, i mean it should have came with ethernet and a hard disk. We didnt get those til like a year after launch, infact my ps2 had broke twice, the first one exploded and the 2nd had the laser issue that was never sorted out. And sonys customer support is rubbish, at least when peoples 360s broke they rang up, MS sent out a box they had a new one inside 2 weeks. Sony you would be looking at months. I hope the ps3 delivers, obviosly because I like my gaming and some games wont make it to the 360, mainly mgs4 and devil may cry 4. But I cant help but feel its gonna go the same way again. And last comment lol, blu ray? who trusts sony making drives? I certainly do not, psx and ps2 had laser issues and ive had 2 sony pc dvd writers that throw out the worst quality burns and reads ever. Like 1000s of pi errors and failures.

There's a difference between 1080P and 1080I. 1080P has double the resolution...

It has the same resolution, but it refreshes the whole screen in one pass.
1080i refreshes half the screen (every other line) for each pass, meaning it would take two passes to refresh the whole screen.

So, in a sense, you are correct, but all this really gets us a slightly crisper image at 1080p, with twice the framerate.
1080i still looks really good though; very comparable.

Personally, I think 720p is just fine :)

I don't think it looks that bad, levels are just empty and dull. I think expectations of some people are just way to high. Don't expect miracles form the PS3 graphics wise, it's probably going to end up weaker then the Xbox 360. At least if Sony has not changed the specs of the machine. If not, the PS3 is going to end up with a Geforce 7800-7900 type GPU witch offcourse is weaker then the 48 unified shader architectured Ati gpu of the Xbox 360.I'm not a Xbox 360 fanboy or anything but i don't like to see people go up in the whole hype thing that Sony alway's creates.
