Sony released a bunch of new images of God of War 3. Nothing really new here but fans shouldn't be nitpicky. Enjoy!

It's a mixed bag but overall looks very good. I have to say, looks better than Dante's Inferno in screenshots, but I'm not sure at which framerate will this one run considering Dante runs at 60FPS

GOW III will run both from 30 to 60 fps depending on the amount of things going on on screen. The E3 demo never droped under 33 FPS If I remember.
And It was hardly noticeable.

Interesting. That might explain the visual differences. I personally would prefer 60Fps locked but well, as long as the slowdowns aren't that noticeable.

i'd prefer they lock it at 30fps if they cant keep it at 60... otherwise you're going to notice that frame drop.

30 "fixed" with screen tearing and/or framedrops I presume.
Dante is less detailed, but will be a steady 60 fps (see demo).

I totally agree, what better way to take you out of the experience then to have the framerate bouce back and forth.

*Eagerly awaiting people to circle the screens where the game is ugly so I know how bad it is*

But seriously, this game looks absolutely great and will play even greater. This game makes me happy I have a PS3 :D

Dante may be 60fps, but I doubt it will have as much going on at the same time. Just look at the demo with the Titan in the background. I'd much prefer 30fps with this much attention to detail and immersion, than 60fps and see the same old backdrops.

Look at the detail on the Satyrs

i agree. you can tell just from the demo of dante's inferno that the design and visuals have suffered for the sake of achieving 60FPS. low poly characters, basic geometry in the environment, low res, obviously tiled textures. the game is pretty messy on the whole. but i guess some people would prefer a locked 60FPS with last gen visuals.

i mean, i can understand people bringing up the argument of 60FPS when it comes to something like MW2, becasue MW2 looks pretty nice overall. dante's inferno...doesnt.

to give dante its due's though i do think it will offer alot more variety in level design than GOW3 will...after all, each level is based on a different sin..allowing licence to vary drastically from one another.. i can't see that happening here.

I was no fan of the Dante demo...i found it boring hack'n slash affair..with a focus on boobies and cheap thrills to attract the 12 years olds. Giant bombs quick look of it though had it looking alot more interesting..with a lot of fine details filling the levels. The quick looks worth checking out

i watched them both (demo and full version) and neither did anything for me.

tbh i think they're both pretty equal as far as variety goes. sure dante has the circles of hell, but whats betting most of them are brown...lol

from the little they've shown of GOW 3, we've seen a lot of variety in the environements, including the back of a moving titan. it's already looking very varied to me, but then the first 2 games were too so it's hardly surprising.

It's when you consider the genre of the game that these screens come from, and then look at games like DMC and Bayonetta, and while those games have their own unique - and impressive - art direction, it's clear that this game takes both of them and wipes the floor. The art direction that's gone into this title is off the scale. It just goes to show that when all rescources are concentrated into a single project for an exclusive, with a talented group or artists on board, great things can be achieved with the current tech. This mantra applies to any system BTW.

Well if you care about those things,I mean graphics that is.

As far as gameplay goes Bayonetta wipes the floor with this and all the action games out there.
,and for some people that is more important that shiny graphics and good textures.

Dont get me wrong this game looks amazing but thats it,thats all it got against other action games.

Santa Monica decided to keep the Framerate between 30 ~ 60 to ensure the graphical quality without droping it. They already said that they could have put more on the graphics and lessen the framerate but like they did with GOW I and II they will do the same for GOW III.
The game is visually looking beautiful in motion I guess the gameplay experience will overcome any lack with the framerate.

Ok, but you haven't played GOW3 yet, so it's actually an impossible statement for you to say Bayonetta wipes the floor with this.

To me, a game is more than just gameplay. Gameplay is one of the most important aspects of any game, but immersion, story, graphics, presentation etc all matter too. In this sense I enjoyed the previous two God of War games moreso than Bayonetta.

This looks fantastic. Graphics are great. Can't wait to play it. Not much else to say other than RAPTOR, is there any way you can not turn this thread into another one of your personal Bayonetta shrines? That shit gets old.

Hey I didnt came up with Bayonetta, the dude up there said that this game wipes the floor with Bayonetta and of course that is wrong on various levels.

Are you telling me that that opinion its somehow a fact?

That Bayonetta its somehow inferior in the art direction?

since when opinions are facts and cannot be wrong?

We could do this all day if you want.

I'm not saying it's a fact, and you're reaching in making that awkward jump in logic. It is his opinion though, and since it's concerning something highly subjective like art direction, it can't be wrong. Also, you didn't even disagree with what he said by saying "Dont get me wrong this game looks amazing but thats it,thats all it got against other action games."

I'm not sure why I'm replying to you...I mean, you were supposed to be leaving by your own admission, weren't you?

I can't get over how big the gap is in how good this game looks at times and how not so great it looks at other times. For a Sony big boy, this sure is an inconsistent looking game, especially the poor textures that are usually much better hidden in these games.

Anyhow, I think it will look better when playing since the camera is usually pretty far back from Kratos. The gameplay might be making next to no real evolution, but the overall production values will make this a really interesting play, even if it's only a one time playthrough style of game (imo of course...)
