Images Xbox 360 PS3

Rockstar sent us these four new images of L.A. Noire. True, we wouldn't have minded bigger ones, but apart from that, Team Bondi's new game is without a doubt among our most anticipated titles this year. What about you?
Update: HD screens available.

It's amazing that you can easily recognize people you now from tv. Like that guy from pic 3, I could swear I've seen him somewhere

I think he was referring to the quality of animation which contributes more to a movie like feel.

Uncharted characters look like sock puppets compared to the facial animation in this game, sorry.

We should always say at the start of any post "Besides Uncharted" or after the post "Not counting Uncharted games"

Because clearly those games beats any game in any category ever.

What he said.

How many facepalms: can I fit in this box?

They are good-looking games but nothing to shout about, this kind of detail in an open-world game (the above tortuously-overused examples are scripted and linear) is amazing, and shouldn't even be compared!

Just like we should say "Besides Bayonetta" or "Not counting Bayonetta" before every post of an action game as well? Zing!

But seriously, this game has the same facial animation as RDR (which was superb) but has the texture detail and lower body animation of GTAIV (I could crop the head of the black dude and replace it with Jacob's head and it wouldn't look out of place for GTAIV). This makes for an awkward combination IMO.

Real life faces look better than keyframe animation faces?? REALLY??? Oh my GOD!!! :O

Uncharted 1/2 and L.A. Noire are two differently styled games, one stylistic, the other shooting for photo-realism, it's a pointless comparison.

I was pretty excited about this game when I was under impression that it is an open world game with authentic setting. Then I read that the story is quite linear. And now I see only screenshots of people talking and I am not that interested about games where people talk a lot. So my anticipation level is not that high anymore.

The facial animation is clearly many many times more expressive than that in RDR. If you really can't see then... well, I don't want to say.

This is an open world game. The story will be as linear as GTA or RDR. I don't know what you expected. But I guess if you don't like talking then...

this tech is too advanced for this gen imo. it's impressive as hell. but it looks weird as hell at the same time. you have these lifelike facial animations on low poly, undetailed bodies walking around in poorly lit, poor quality worlds. i'd prefer some sort of consistency personally. but that's just me. this is something i'd love to see next gen since the rest of the world would hopefully be on par with the faces. currently it looks like someones super-imposed a real face onto a shitty character model. heavy rain is the only game i can think of that would benefit from this tech without creating a jarring quality difference between face and body/world since it's so contained.

some gameplay would be nice too seeing as we havnt seen any.
