After many delays, here is a good news for those who, like me, have been waiting for this game for 8 years : Mafia 2 will be available on August 24th in the US and August 27th in Europe, for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. And to celebrate that, 2K Games just sends us these 5 new images.

Born the son of a poor immigrant, Vito is a beaten-down Italian-American who is trying to escape the life of poverty that consumed his childhood. Vito, along with his lifelong friend, Joe, will descend into the world of organised crime. Looking to escape the life of hardship that his father led, Vito dreams about becoming a “made man,” and together with Joe, will work to prove themselves to the Mafia as they try to make their names on the streets. However, the two quickly realize that life as a wise guy isn’t quite as glamorous as it seems.

Additionally, Mafia II will be playable by the public for the first time at the Penny Arcade Expo East (PAX East) being held at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, Massachusetts from March 26 – March 28 at the 2K Games booth (booth #103).

this, red dead, and Alan wake.. i hope all demonstrate how far gamings evolving with narrative. Loved the first Mafia, and it's pacing - a perfect example of how to manipulate a tight story around an open world setting.

I am trying to stare at you face, but it's the dog in me.

I can wait for this game. I am going to be so broke, New Xbox, and all these cool games, maybe I can slip in a PS3 in there before Christmas, but I am pushing it.

I really hope this does well, rumour has it that unless it sells in big numbers 2k Czech will be closed, which will be a real shame as Illusion Softworks produced some excellent games over the years, especially Hidden and Dangerous 1 and 2 and the first Mafia game.
