Press release PC Xbox 360 PS3 Vita

We learned today via the latest press release of Oddworld Inhabitants, that its remake of Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee HD is renamed Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee - New 'n' Tasty. Still planned for 2013 on download platforms. Can be added to the list a PS Vita version. As a bonus we'll let you look at some screenshots.

Oddworld Inhabitants announces platforms, title, gameplay features for ‘Abe HD’

San Francisco, USA, 1 October 2012.

Yesterday, Industry veteran and Just Add Water (Developments) Ltd. CEO Stewart Gilray was on stage at Eurogamer Expo 2012 to demonstrate the game. Whilst on stage, Gilray also revealed the full title of the game, after Oddworld Inhabitants ran a competition where fans submitted suggestions. The full name for the remake will be ‘Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee – New ‘n’ Tasty’.

The reimagining of the classic game will feature:
· fully 3D rendered environments with ‘2.5D’ gameplay;
· levels redesigned to take advantage of the new engine;
· rerecorded sounds and voices, including some surprises; and
· full integration with gaming platforms.

The game will launch on Microsoft’s Xbox Live Arcade and Sony’s PlayStation Network for both PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita, with a Microsoft Windows PC version due later.

Lorne Lanning, founder and co-owner of Oddworld Inhabitants said : “Oddworld Inhabitants is always overwhelmed by the fan dedication to Abe and the games and hope to keep them involved in the creative process for future games. We are all excited about giving a new generation of gamers the opportunity to play Abe’s Oddysee the way they deserve.”

Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee – New ‘n’ Tasty is expected to be released in Q4 2013. For more information, visit www.oddworld.com.

Just replayed both 1 & 2 recently on my PSP. One of my alltime favorites. Rescued 99 Mudokons in the first but somehow i'm missing 1 ? Frustrating... Have yet to finish the second game though.

The first one only has 99, the second has 300, so good luck.

looks awesome. gonna take some getting used to the non individual screen system of the old games. and there are some weird lighting/fog changes througout that video, almost like where the screen transitions used to be...very strange looking. but awesome non the less.

So you're the kind of guy who throws in the towel on the first occasion ? The first one wasn't even that difficult, found the second to be a lot harder. But since you can die as often as you want it's still pretty 'simple' to get all your mudokon buddies out of there. Found the try & error concept very amusing tbh...

It's charming, challenging and... well, different to some point. No reasons not to like it, on my end for sure.

I guess i just don't like the trial and error nature of the game much. Then again, last time i played it was back when the PS1 was new :P

And i do like difficult games (I finished Ninja Gaiden Black on Very hard and Got to something like mission 16 in DMC3 on Dante Must Die), but i prefer the difficulty require skill rather than exhausting options or obnoctious platforming controls :P

Hmm, it looks more like Another World or Flashback in HD more than those two. In fact, Flashback in HD done like this next, please.

I think you seriously need to play it. Give it a shot, at least. The game is very fun, skillful, as you'll see in the Tribe Trials, and has a great story, with underlying themes. It's my second all time favourites, and I'm very picky.
