Trailer Xbox 360

The first downloadable episode for Alan Wake will be available on Xbox Live for free on July 27 and today we are shown a very short teaser. The good news is you won't be spoiled at all if you decide to watch.

Do you have a solution you could give us so that "somewhere else" do not get all the exclusives? If not, then it's ok, maybe soon you'll just have "somewhere else" to go and you will be happier. :p

hmmm, i hope these offer more then just what we did in the main game, cos the main game was incredibly repetative in terms of everything really. combat, enemy variety, environment, weapons, even the situations you where put in where repetative. i just hope it doesnt feel like you're retreading ground. but i have a feeling it's going to go something like this since this seemed to be the design philosophy of the entire main game:

cutscene > fall off cliff into woods > run through woods > get funnelled into an area where you have to jump down a broken staircase > get ambushed > rinse/ repeat > cutscene

it was such a forgettable experience tbh. i hope these DLC episodes give the game the "oomph" it needs. but if it is just more wandering through woods at night fighting the same enemies using the same weapons, then frankly, i probably wont even bother with the free episode.

I don't care where you might have seen it before no one compares to the quality video Gamersyde gives out for free.

Glad to see others enjoying the game, if you have any special place in your heart for literature you will love the ending.

Alan Wake had much more to do with the story than anything else. If you straight ran through the game without letting yourself get into the story it would be a very repetitive and boring game. This game is filled with small details and the scattered pages give something to entertain you while you play it.

If you don't like reading books Alan Wake is not for you.

That isn't a proper correlation to make. A proper correlation would be if you aren't a fan of Stephen King, Alan Wake isn't for you. The missing pages are short and don't require much reading in the first place.

I don't get why people complain about the combat being/getting repetitive...
In other games you "only" shoot, shoot, shoot and noone's complaining...
I really liked Alan Wake although you could obviously see that the game "is" old (motion capture, some animation, lipsynching)
I'm really looking forward to the DLC and to "season2".
If they have fixed the bad lipsynching and the bad facial animations as they promised it will be another awesome ride

Yeah Alan Wake was a great game. If you love David Lynch Movies as i do there are sooo many phrases ,situation ,music and even achievements that relate to Twin Peaks or Lynchs Motion Pictuers its simply great.
But i guess most ppl here think that Avatar and Transformers are good movies ...sigh

As mentioned before I really like Alan Wake but I wasn't enjoying Twin Peaks at all. After all the fuzz about Alan Wake being "so close" to Twin Peaks, I forced myself to watch the series and the pilot and the "prequel".
I couldn't help myself but to laugh all the time because at least for me there was no suspense etc. at all. I know it's the 90s but come on...
But as you mentioned Remedy realy show their appreciation/love for Lynch in many scenes....

Avatar and Transformers aren't the greatest movies of all time but to me they showcase what is possible CG-wise.
Transformers I wasn't that bad even though you can see that Bay comes from the "car advertisement-scene"

I wasn't referring to the reading in the game, I was referring to the game itself. He self narrates it while you play and its quite literally like you're playing a game inside a book.

if only. more the fact it just doesn't appeal to me. surely you don't need MORE reasons as to why i thought it was a pretty lacklustre title?

i love it when people claim my taste in games has anything to do with my preference in console (which yes, i have a preference, as does everyone, anyone saying otherwise is a lying bastard) it's very telling as to the mental capacity and state of mind of that person tbh. but by all means, carry on.
