Mr Scratch, dearest of all my friends! I love how he's now in-game, and the new bird revisions of the Taken.

Can anyone please explain to me, as I haven't played the DLC's, where this one fits in the storyline?

Pre? Post? Do I have to play the DLC's?

Looking forward to this, first game was very good.

Some info on this....

-This game is being developed as an independent entry that anyone can jump into and understand. It expands and broadens the world of Alan Wake, and contains much more information about the happenings after the first Alan Wake.

-Remedy says that the first game was combination of Stephen King and Lost while American Nightmare is in spirit of Tarantino’s From Dusk Till Dawn and Pulp Fiction.

-This game takes place away from Bright Falls and now is set in a city in Arizona. The developers wanted to go a classic American Route 66-type of location, and a huge change of pace from the original game.

-Wake is in Arizona as he is trapped in the Night Springs television series he wrote when he was younger. The game is said to reflect on Alan boarderlining between reality and fiction, and the thin line Alan Wake is treading and experiencing. Alan goes from episode to episode while caught in a war between light and darkness.

-To be released Q1 of 2012, the game is to be faster-paced and more action-focused than the original Alan Wake with it’s digital distribution method in mind. But this does not mean that the game is abandoning atmosphere and story or what makes Alan Wake what it is.

-The game is supposed to last for several hours, with bigger replayability than the original Alan Wake.

-One unlockable mode is known as, “Fight Till Dawn,” in which players are in an expansive arena and must fight waves of progressively tougher enemies while finding ammo and weapons around the various locations. Players win if they can survive until daybreak.

-Remedy confirms this will not be the last Alan Wake game, and that the sequel is definitely coming, but no details or specific release schedules.

-Remedy hopes they might be able to bring this game and the original Alan Wake to PC, but nothing set in stone quite yet, but there might be some bright news for PC owners in the near future.

Pre? Post? Do I have to play the DLC's?
it's standalone, but stuff from the original will be explained. And Remedy always starts alan wake with "previously, on Alan Wake..."

You should play the DLCs, because they continue right after the main game, and they explain a lot.

Survival mode confirmed? Let's hope the game have varied enemies. Got bored from shooting the same dude in first game.
But since it's $10-15 game, i'll probably buy it day 1.

How much is old DLC now ? or is it STILL the same price ?
one thing i hate about DLC 90% (random internet % for ya ;)) never drops in price..
Halo Reach for instance (yeah yeah still new..ish) the game is on xbox live for £49.99...seriously... and the DLC is a fucking scandal considering not as many people play it anymore, to me its like buy maps for call of duty black ops when MW48 is out..Christ i just bought up CoD in the same conversation as AW and Halo.. shoot me now.

If you have AW new remember to download The Writer and The Signal. They round things off from the game and The Signal, which is the DLC you pay to download, more than makes up for the cost with its surreal imagery and interesting playstyle.

Love AW. Can't wait for this. But... I'll have to. ;)

btw AW PC incoming, in case you haven't heard the news.

The Signal, first DLC was free with every new copy of Alan Wake. The Writer, is 560 points right now (£4.76), so that's cheaper than before.
