Trailer PC Xbox 360 PS3

SEGA have just announced the official release date of Aliens: Colonial Marines. Fans will have to wait until February 12, 2013 to finally discover this new close encounter. Here is a new trailer to ease the wait.

With all these delays, imagine if the game was still just above average. Then they should just release it now.

I am kind of put off by this game as it is looking like a "call of duty" with aliens.

And I don't mean to put COD down necessarily, but just the bombastic first person scripted scenes have become so cookie cutter; I would have liked an aliens game that really felt like it was it's own thing.

I doubt that. I think it's being held back because of the multiplayer, which looked very unimpressive.

Not even in time for the holidays? I guess SEGA doesn't like money.

Exactly. From the gameplay I've seen, they concentrated on getting nice environments, lighting, atmosphere etc, but the scripted events just completely negate all of that. When are devs who develop FPS games going to get it into their thick skulls that quicktime events and scripted cut scenes do not fucking work when you're trying to scare someone.

Oh, and that release date. Oh dear, oh dear. I hope for their own sake they've made massive improvements over the E3 showing, but I doubt it.

Especially when you're playing the same thing again. An Aliens games could work though i think if they could get some sort of dynamic route system that alters depending. Not knowing quite what your route might be from a to b coupled with dynamic floor, wall and ceiling encounters would be rather innovative actually. I doubt the devs have thought to this level though and that's a crying shame considering this is the daddy. Providing it does at least have a real unknowing element in combat then it could at least work really well there

I think people generally wont be quite as picky though if this game is solid

another delay? neither shocked nor suprised .. I'll just keep waiting. Not sure if it's the right word to use but it was cool at 52seconds to see half of Bishop. I haven't been following this avidly so wasn't expecting that!

Would be nice if they'd tone down the dudebroness that was very apparant in the other trailers. I know Cameron's Aliens movie had space marines in it but they had much more personality and likeability than your average generic FPS characters.

Aliens: Colonial Marines will be available in stores across the globe on February 12, 2013 on PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and Windows PC. A release date for the announced Wii U™ version will be revealed at a later time.
Looking over some of the wording in the official press release, were I a betting man, I'd lay solid odds that come E3 in a couple of weeks, the Wii U version will be announced as launching this holiday season. That's right, I said this year. This November at the Wii U launch. Giving Nintendo approximately a 3 month exclusivity window with the game.

That also has me thinking, that some of Nintendo's own 1st and 2nd party games that should have been ready for the Wii U launch, won't make it in time, hence the need for at least one 'killer app' at the system launch, and thus the deal with SEGA.

After the let down that was the Nintendo's lack of support for core gamers on the Wii, I am still very much on the fence about the Wii U. However, should Ninty truly bring the goods at E3, and the Wii U turns out to be a halfway respectable spec'ed machine (I'm thinking run pretty much all of today's PC games at 1080p60 - not true next-gen, but good enough for a Nintendo machine), the price is right (say around $250, which is usually the going launch price on Nintendo consoles), and I see more aggressive moves like nabbing timed exclusives with more core games like Aliens: Colonial Marines, I may actually pony up and give Nintendo one final chance to wipe 15 years of bad taste out of my mouth. I'd like to see the company return to the days of the SNES, when it comes to 3rd party support and core software releases. And I'd like to see them return to the days of the NES, when it comes to creating brand new IPs - no more of this rehashing Zelda, Mario, Smash Bros, and Mario Kart for the umpteenth millionth time, and back to creating all new IP and setting the world on fire with wonder and imagination again . . . and no more taking 3rd parties for granted, and treating them like redheaded stepchildren, when it comes to leadership, support, and implementing Nintendo proprietary technologies into their games.

We'll see . . .

I'd say around 350-400$. And it will fail at this price.

Again, that's not how it works. Delays are done because they have problems or arent meeting the expected time frame...or in some cases i guess it's marketing. Generally not a good thing.

Yep. It's not a good sign. It also depends on the dev too, though. I remember when lots of now classic games being put back, but back then it usually was for a good reason in the fact that they needed more time to get it right, which usually turned out to be the right choice. Now this game has been in development for some time. Drips of info here and there, then it just vanishes again. Shades of Duke Nukem Forever. So the game finally gets ready for a release, then it gets put back again, by a very lengthy delay. The trouble with that is, why release a big trailer for it when it's not going to be available for almost a year? Doesn't make much sense. The marketing here seems backwards as any hype the trailer generates will die off and they'll have to realse ANOTHER big trailer for the time of release. I think I'm fairly confident that this is not going to be the Alien experience we all longed for on current gen systems.
