I kind of expect this game won't be what an Aliens game really should be. But hopefully it should be a blast to play none the less.

Kinda prefer predator personally. Dont like the look of this much tho. Movement looks clunky, and it looks a bit bland. Split-screen co-op is a must for me to even consider renting it atm. Maybe they've just demo's the less exciting bits? Time will tell i guess. Way more excited for borderlands 2 tho.

Dont know what this game will be like, gunna watch the video shortly, but AvP (most recent one) is one the most under rated titles this gen. Had a ton of fun on it's mp and it felt really unique and very solid balance wise.

I checked out both gameplay#2 and 3 and I am loving the atmosphere, and just the movement of the xenos. I loved from the 3rd video how you see something moving to the left, and once you go around that corner the alien will jump at you from behind the boxes, wow. The 4 player co-op looks like too much fun.

the game just looks boring (having seen the vids), its super scripted and the sound design is just awful....

I used to believe in Gearbox since they ported Halo 1 to PC, I thought Bungie would guide them but all their projects look rather mediocre to me.

Where's the third gameplay video? I can only see the #2 from that link Seth posted. The gameplay looks really sexy.

Ah, just found the link to the third video. Looks nice!

So this game is most likely going to tie into Prometheus somehow or use a few elements...

I can assume that the single player mode is all Colonial Marines hunting Aliens down and possibly there could be an Aliens single player mode where an alien hunts down humans? probably not the multiplayer is like wha..?? why? Call of Aliens? or Halaliens?

Game looks very nice, but there is one very important thing for me, which is really f*cked up IMO. Sounds! What the hell is wrong with pulse rifle sound? WTH is wrong with Aliens sounds? Just WTH???? Doent sounds like in the movie and in previous much older games, where these sounds where awesome. Even on my DS aliens and weapons sound exactly like in the movie. DAMN IT!

Didn't look that good. Couple of annoyances, which marine raises his weapon just to talk in a headset or check the motion sensor? Also slowest run/sprint in gaming history, the marine you are playing as must weigh like 250 kg. The hit indicators was a big immersion breaker as well, hopefully there will be an option to turn them off.

Agree about the sounds lacking that punch but might have been because of the vid quality.

I have a bad feeling that this game will be subpar.

The game will be sub-par. I said it a while ago when Gearbox revealed the gameplay footage of it. It just has another one of those trends that is really starting to get on my nerves with FPS' this generation, and it's all thanks to that piece of fucking shit franchise called Call of Duty: the scripted cut scene. What is it that makes developers think that having a nicely animated scripted cinematic cut-scene makes the game immersive for the player? It doesn't. It kills the suspense and removes the control from the player. When that happens, having a monster leap at you from nowhere is less frightening, because you know you can just sit and watch as your character fights it off, unless of course, you get that other piece of shit boring gameplay implementation called the quick time event. "Oh, I'm shitting myself here as I wait and struggle to press the correct buttons flashing on screen." BORING! Oh, and we even have the aiming from COD too. Another thing that I don't like in most FPS's these days, which can be a deal breaker in many ways for me, is the gun totting or movement. If it looks too static or unrealistic, then that too throws you out of the immersion. With a game like this in this day and age, it has to be doing something different with that, and from that gameplay video, it's just as static-looking as a game from a decade ago. The voice chatter from the marine is also incredibly cheesy. I mean, this is a fight for survival here. He's supposed to be full of dread and absolutely shitting himself. He isn't, and again that comes across to the player and removes you from what is supposed to be a life or death environment you are in. In short, Geatbox have got some things right with this like the setting and visuals, but they've got the direction of the game totally wrong IMO.

That many gamers ignored revolutionary FPSs like Killzone 2 and 3 with miserable hate and that COD keeps selling ridiculous ammounts of copies in an age where game developers are blaming pirates, hackers and gamestop's unfair business practices is most likely what made Gearbox go cheap...

Then again Gearbox was never known for being a game dev that pushed the tech or helped keep gameplay fresh, they instead either handled a port job or just copied pasted ideas into their games.

I don't understand why their game needs to be a current gen Doom 3 where you switch between a motion sensor and gun (like you did with flashlight/guns) and most importantly of all, fighting the Aliens should not be that easy, if their acid blood sprays you or splashes on you thats it you are toast.

The one film that a game of it needs to be absolutely perfect. It's a tall order really especially from this dev if i'm brutally honest. I doubt it will be crap though but it needs to be so much better than merely good

What this game needs more than anything is for it to be at least dynamic in some sense as well so that you truly wont know what to expect. I want to truly experience Aliens like i've dreamed it to be in that of a game and i don't think any dev can honestly pull that off

Sega owns the rights or license to publish an Aliens franchise videogame, they already did so with Aliens VS Pedator developed by experienced studio "Rebellion" and that was not that bad, fan cried about things that could have been improved in sequels however the new game being that its being handled by GearBox and its only about the Colonial Marines vs the Aliens Xenomorphs sounds like a much easier or simpler videogame job than trying to do Alien VS Predator...

However... what I don't understand is why did Sega contract Gearbox instead of just having Rebellion who already had years and years experience with the Aliens/Predator videogame franchise... so who knows I just don't like the Doom 3 item switching and I just recently re-watched Alien, and Aliens films as well as the 3rd, 4th and the AliensVSPredator and Predator movies in anticipation for Prometheus so I will re look at Aliens again and pay attention to the marines before I say anything else but seriously I hope this does not suck.

No not harsh at all, Brother in Arms was just a derivative FPS with squad commands, stuff like that was made before but they got it right for the time being way back in last gen.

Borderlands is just a stripped down Fallout no matter how you slice it and there are too many easily impressed people who played that game that seemed to never have been playing videogames before.

Both Aliens Vs Predator and Aliens: Colonial Marines were in development at the same time, that's why they were given to 2 different studios. But for some reason Aliens: Colonial Marines has taken a lot longer to finish.

Borderlands... a cartoony and stripped down Fallout but with multiplayer to pander to the XBoxLive population that keeps demanding the death of single player games by forcing online multiplayer down gamers throats and why you will be required to have an internet service/connection for nextbox.

Yes Killzone 2/3 were revolutionary technical games... that got compared to Call of Duty so go figure basically game devs will have the attitude of not bothering to push tech because it just does not pay.

And yes Aliens Colonial Marines features a "deffered lighting" in their engine welcome to 2009 Killzone 2 ;P but in motion it looks an awful lot like the lighting system in Doom 3/RoE PC which I bought in 2004 and 2005.

That is a poor lie.

Aliens Colonial Marines has actually been in planning phase for almost over TEN years almost as much as Duke Nukem forever lol.

The Alien VS Predator game which btw is STILL used as a PC benchmark (in PC gamer land if you are rich enough) was released in 2010.

Its 2012 now and ACM will be released later this year, most likely avoiding shipping next to Call of Duty 2000!!! so it doesn't get trampled in sales, yes typical game development is roughly 2 years time and yes I read the CPU magazine article where Gearbox devs were complaining about having to do multithreading and not really feeling like doing it at all because they "think" its not worth it "pay wise" they would much rather wait for a next gen hardware or use a 3d engine licensed to them made by some other dev.

That said they make some pretty average games and that is being fair btw. because Borderlands got alot of free hype when it first came out by press using words like ZOMG you like Fallout? you want online multiplayer? buy Borderlands" ;p

Fallout and Borderlands are two very different games with very different goals. And Killzone is only revolutionary if you're so stuck on Sony that you need to cherry pick their efforts for some half baked argument on an internet forum.

I guess Fallout 2 and Diablo 2 are basically the same game too?

Please, by all means rant away.. I'll be ignoring it.

And this is pretty hilarious. That game is crap. Considerably worse than Borderlands, I might add. On the PC. On any platform.
