Sega are announcing that a demo of Aliens vs Predator will be released on Xbox Live, PSN and Steam tomorrow. The demo will feature multiplayer deatchmatch, where you will control either Marines, Alien or the Predator. The game will be released on the 19th and two trailers and screenshots are available inside.
Sega press release:
The multiplayer demo will allow gamers the chance to play as all three species – the Colonial Marine, the Predator and the Alien – and pitch their skills against each other in Deathmatch mode on Refinery, one of the game’s multiplayer maps.
“The team at Rebellion has created a truly immersive multiplayer experience with three completely different and compelling playable species. We believe that Aliens vs Predator offers gamers a unique alternative to the current FPS multiplayer games on the market, and sets a precedent for the evolution of multiplayer gaming in the genre,” said Gary Knight, European Marketing Director of SEGA Europe.
“Multiplayer was a huge part of our original AVP game back in 1999, and we’ve kept the spirit of that classic experience in creating the multiplayer for our new Aliens vs Predator. With the demo now gamers can get to grips with each of the three iconic species so they can hone their skills and be ready for when the game launches and battle commences,” said Jason Kingsley, CEO and Creative Director of Rebellion.
Aliens vs Predator allows players to take the role of each of the three infamous species; the Colonial Marine, the Predator and the Alien. Each of the three species has its very own distinct story-driven single-player campaign mode that interweaves with the campaigns of the other two species.
Aliens vs Predator also features unique 3-way online multiplayer, giving gamers the chance to pit the three species against each other in the ultimate battle for survival and for the right to be crowned the deadliest species. Aliens vs Predator has seven multiplayer modes in total: Infestation, Survivor, Predator Hunt, Domination, Deathmatch, Species Deathmatch and Mix Species Deathmatch.
Aliens vs Predator is set to be released on Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and PC Games For Windows on February 16th in America and February 19th in Europe.

The Pred looks alot better to control now too.. hopefully advancing from the frustration that platform sections usually blight FPS games with.
Rebellion havent been on great form this gen..but i believe it was the american branch that "developed" rogue warrior..so i can forgive. I just wish part of the single player was included with the demo
Good thing its MP considering with single player they just attach a story to each species, so its better not to ruin it, be it bad or good.
But MP should be interesting to see how it plays with each species (i wont bother with Aliens, they suck :P) just to know if MP is something to look forward to in the retail game or not.
Goddamnit!!
I'm guessing controls are going to be the big issue. that and balance.

I'm still interested in that movie starring all the major 80s action stars. Can't remember the name of it but it sounds like a really fun summer movie idea.
Yeah there will be a new Predators movie this year, its produced by Robert Rodriguez and directed by Nimrod Antal and it stars Adrien Brody.
Sounds awesome cant wait.

Then again, Rebellion has been super-awful since AvP. When I recently checked their resume, I almost had an heart attack. Shellshocked 2, Rogue Warrior, Judge Dredd. The list just goes on and on. So I'm giving this developer the benefit of doubt. At least it won't make my expectations too high.
*sigh*

Thx :)
I thought the soldiers would be weak, but the idea of radar keeping track of everyone near you and the weapons are powerful and punchy which is great.
However, I thought the humans wouldnt have a chance, but the more I think of it, its the aliens because they dont have any long range attacks, nor the Predators (unless you pick up shoulder canon and shuriken and spear).
Anyways, I can see myself enjoying the full game, both single player and MP, if only there was another map, more like jungle or something.
I do wish they could have increased the soldiers sprint a bit though.
If they only fix the bad auto-matching and give us a proper server list with info like map names, players, ping, modes...etc. I would love it.
And this was my first AvP game, very fun.
And plus that i am a sci-fi geek its all great :)
Going to try out the PS3 demo later today when its out, along with Bad Company 2 demo.
I keep getting placed as the alien.. and other than killing other aliens, they're next to useless against anything else alone.
Deathmatch works in that setting as long as you know your species all advantages.
But IMO, MP are suppose to be fun and not be on the highest list, atleast thats how I play.
The day were I cared alot to be on top 3 was in the Counter Strike days and a bit in the first MW, but now its all about fun.
And yes, Aliens are worthless bastards, but you got to love their squeek sounds though, very cool, and speed. But other than that, meh.
One thing that I find a chance to kill is if you damaged the enemy enough and if you get killed your acid blood will affect the other player and might kill him, happened to me.
The other modes that will be available will be more entertaining (see the official website for description of the modes)
Well I tried the PS3 demo, my god I waited like 30 minutes just to play a 10 minutes match and then when I tried again I couldnt find any, HORRIBLE!
Atleast on PC I found more matches to play than PS3 though which was nice.
Now I dont know which version or the game to get, PC or PS3, good thing 360 controller is supported for the PC version though :)
with the marines even in mp this game is scary and your dead if something is behind you. but the weapons deal a lot of damage and even the predator dies really quick.
with the aliens you can see everybody at every time but you have to manage to get close to them because the aliens cant take much damage
the predator is the ultimate hunter with his stealth technology but you have to switch trough the different visions to see what your hunting. especially the aliens are hard to locate.
at all great balancing of the 3 species and controls are easy to mange after some minutes.
i haven't a favourite jet because all 3 types play well but i like this grab and kill thing with the aliens ore the predator. if you push and hold the attack button/s you perform some extreme brutal moves. but if you to slow your catch will get away ore you die.
AvP Rocks!!!
BTW: matchmaking fix will be online soon
