Looks promising though.
Oh, I forgot to mention the generic artstyle. Seriously, it's a fucking sci-fi shooter. Therefor, they can make the game look like however the hell they want...and this is all they can come up with? Laughable at best.
I'm just venting my point of view. ;)

:(
AVP2 i didnt enjoy that much..mainly because the graphics engine used didnt lend itself to the AVP atmosphere well enough.
This one looks like it could nail the originals thrills.. i really hope they take advantage of this generations tech and really use shadows and lighting to play up the scares.. rather than an endless stream of aliens thrown at you.
Not the same repetitive environments we've been seeing in every single sci-fi shooter to date. Just because the game's based on a movie/established franchise, doesn't mean they can't implement some...imagination.

@ KORNdog: Well, to be honest...I'm a little puzzled this is what people actually want?! But hey, that's fine. Enjoy your generic looking shooter by all means. ;)
I don't care if they were the first with that style or not, and I don't care if it's based on a franchise or not. I look at this game, and I see the same sci-fi shooter I've been seeing for the last 15 years...other than that... /care
Edit @ Plumbdrumb: Hey, I'm just being polite here and responding to their posts. No need to get like that...Either way...I'm done here anyway, not my kind of game indeed and I'll leave it at that. Next time I'll just leave a: "Yawn" comment or something if that's more desireable...
I'm sure there are other games you can play.
edit
I hope this thread doesn't go all whack-a-doodle like the Final Fantasy one.
and dingleberry's example was perfect since it brings up the idea of being faithfull to a particular style. where cod is faithfull to REALITY, an aliens game has to be faithfull to the ALIENS universe and films. pretty easy to understand
As for your second paragraph, you know...the one that wasn't a cheap personal attack: I suppose that's one way of looking at it, although not quite the same thing...but I'll accept it. ;)
Anyway, now I'm out for good! :P
Also, lighten up...it's just a game.

Being set in a sci-fi universe/fantasy doesnt mean they should just shit all over what the game is actually based upon. They cant just add giant glowing teddybears, gumdrop rainbows and change the combat system into some kind of dance off. The alien universe is very much set in stone, its about darkness and claustraphobia, its about industrialism and the nature of mankind to overuse the space it has been given. Alien 3 and 4 tried to change that and failed miserably, AVP movies even moreso.
And the enemies being "generic" ? These are the iconic, original aliens for christ sake, what do you want them to do? Change them into leprachauns?
Im sorry, but spurting the words generic at everything is pitiful, its like you were trying to jump on the cool train and got it all wrong.
