Xbox 360

2K Games released this 720p-trailer of Amped 3. Looks great, but I still wake up every morning wondering - why the hell did they skip playable Xbox Live support?

I somehow put my hope on a new SSX title instead of this. Which would actually be the only EA series I consider to be decent :p

its not gonna sell at all thanks to no live. I think i speak for most gamers when i say, "i wouldn't have minded waiting another year to get better graphics and online play on this one"

It is looking alot better. The levels look massive and the graphics are really smooth. I don't like the tony hawk gameplay style and challenges. Would prefer a more realistic approach similar to amped 1.

First of all, they "skipped" Live play to get it out for launch, so it wasn't so much skip as not having time to implement it properly. Pushing the release of a snowboarding title back to spring is, as you prolly can work out by yourself, suicide.

Another misconception about this title is that it'd be in any way less "realistic" than previous Amped games. The only thing that's different here is that the game doesn't slap you around as much. A crappy landing won't always make you tumble around for 10 seconds, but it will make you lose the score you were building. The gameplay itself is still exactly the same, only way more developed.

If the decision to take the overly sensitive crashes out of the game makes it less realistic to you then fine, but the game is still 100% Amped, and even if some games journalist blurts out that it's "abandoned its realistic roots and gone arcade" that's just nonsense. I'm a huge fan of Amped and Amped 2 and I've been following this game closely, and I can tell you it's still Amped only less with the nut cracking punishment - which doesn't make scores easier, it just makes the game more inviting to play for a beginner when you're not falling on your head ALL THE TIME.

Also, coming from real snowboarding I can tell you that nobody actually crashes as much as you did in Amped 1. You've got hands (fists actually) that you push yourself out of a crash with. You don't go rolling all over the place just because your board is tilted a bit.

It seems I'm the only one that doesn't really care about the lack of Live multiplayer, I'll buy this game still because I like snowboarding ALOT and this seems to be more realistic than SSX series because the boots stay ON the board at all times like it should IMO

Yeah Blim, that's a bit of a stinker. I hear you can bump though. Just press jump when you land on a rail and you won't stick to it. It's sort of reversed.

I'm also concerned that the only offline multiplayer option is a sleading mini -game. You can't even board with your friend who is sitting right next to you.

I owned Amped 1 and 2 and IMO I would stick with Amped 1 gameplay and improve characters, boards and bigger maps, but the whole "COOL" and "Like if you were stoned" add onto it its just not my style

Well I'd hate to break it to ya--But SSX On Tour is a steaming pile of a dissapointment from an SSX fans point of view..frankly I see little hope in the series turning back around. I'm actually shocked SSX4 got reviewed so well; There are so many freaking problems with it that didn't exist in SSX3 that it's not even funny.

SSX3 is still my favorite in the series, and I still hope they do turn it around...but as of this most recent entry, I'm not holding out on SSX anymore.

The stylistic change for one thing didn't mesh with SSX. It used to be so insanely sleek, pretty much the sleekest game since Wipeout 2097. It's like they made something so great with SSX3 they didn't really know where to take it next, so they basically just.. didn't.

It would have taken another 2 months at the absolute most. This is a rush job as far as online support and graphics come, but I truely think this'll be a good snowboarding game. I agree with you though GriftGFX, SSX3 is the best snowboarding game ever, and SSX4 just sucked in comparison. I don't know how they did it, but it some how wasn't as good as it's predecessor.
