Trailer PC Xbox 360 PS3

I don't even want to count the number of Colin McRae: Dirt 2 videos I've put online since this game was announced, but with such great visuals I'm not really complaining. This time it's all about the World Tour mode, and it's looking good.

Someone mentioned here a while ago that Dirt2 is so damn influenced by american racing culture. After playing demo and watching all those vids I couldnt agree more. Game looks awesome, plays ok but somewhow it just doesn't get to me. Its way to cocky and flashy to be published under Colin McRae name. I gotta play when it comes out for sure but still.... i wish DICE would come out with a new Rallisport Challenge game.

Whatever happened to Snow tracks in rally games? They are by far the most fun races in Rallisport Challenge 2, but since then they have totally vanished in order to fit even more desert-y levels in there. It´s sad...

The swedish rally tracks would be sweet to see in Dirt 2´s graphical fidelity, that´s for sure! I am from Sweden BTW, so that would make it even more fun for me :D

I really was hoping they didn't show us the classic european rallys yet. To read, that they didn't bother bringing in France, UK, Finland, Sweden or Italy just shows, that they are busy americanizing it.
Colin McRae with Ken Block on the cover ? And they said they wanted to make this a tribute to McRae - how about actually adding the WRC ?
So sad, with this engine and technology night-racing through the finnish forests would have been a blast.

Welcome Jarp to Gamersyde, considering your name and your need for night racing trough the forests of Finland im willing to bet you're Finnish :)

Well, the way i see it Codemasters really want to make this game hit in the biggest market possible: America. But even thou' i won't be bying it ( and wouldn't have even if it did feature WRC ) i can understand why it bothers the european rally fans.

As Jodque pointed out, this engine could really do justice to the european tracks from snowy Sweden to rainy U.K and everything in between.

Who has the rights for WRC at the moment? Is it still sony ? Maybe Evolution Studios should put Motorstorm series on hold and do a new WRC game for a change..

has warthog done any more games since Richard Burns Rally? I loved that game. far from perfect but I enjoyed it thoroughly and the PC version had mods and addons galore. wish the developers would make a new rally game since that one had different surfaces to race on and proper crazy narrow 1 or 2 lane wide tracks.

Hopefully this video was only showing the off-road tracks, and there are still some other tracks as well (I hope :S).

Yeah, another reason why this can't be quite called a rally game, simply an off road game.

Imagine playing a football game like Fifa 10 or PES with cheesy American commentary. Imagine that Fifa was taken over by America. Manchester United would be called Manchester Red Devils, and Real Madrid would be called Real Galactico; Chelsea would be called something like West London Chavski, or some shite, and Liverpool would be Merseyside Red Socks. Yeah. Horrible I know! They'd also introduce new rules such as being able to slam dunk the ball into the net once inside the 18 yard box. Maybe. My point in all this? Well, my point is that Codemasters have just did to Rally and McRae's name something like I've just described in the aforementioned rant about the hypothetical scenario about football.

Too bad Dirt 2 doesn't have amazing gameplay to go with those amazing graphics. I'll rent the game, and it will probably be decent fun, but i just can't get past how good this game could have been if it controlled more like the rallisport challenge games for xbox, damn those games had perfect arcade style gameplay. Just fucking perfect.

Well, based upon my feeling for the demo, it's a solid game and still a first-day buy.

HOWEVER, the car list based on the demo (the locked cars) is very disappointing, very little in the way of classics like the Mini Cooper, Lancia Stratos, Delta, RS200 which were still around in earlier CMR games...

Listen to this man as he speaks the truth. This isn't a proper rally game. It's a fancy 'Americanized' offroad racer with crappy physics. That's what it is really, it has not captured the essence of 'rally', not by a long shot. So hereby, I officially pronounce this game as being an: 'offroad racer'.

A beautifull one at that though (can't stress that enough).

I agree completely with your descriptions, though perhaps not with the descriptor. Being an American, I cringe at *this* kind of thing being described as American. That said, I was going to call it "aggro". What's kind of funny is that, even though they used racers mostly from Rally America (or whatever they're calling it these days), American rallys aren't like this at all. They're low key--just a bunch of guys with WRXs hanging out over a few brews and enjoying the cars. It's not like there's fireworks and heavy metal bands at our rally races.

BTW, Sony I do believe does have the rights to WRC. I have seen Loeb's Citroen and Solberg's (now retired) WRC2008 in trailers (see the damage video on this site, for instance--isn't that Solberg's WRC2008?). Though I was thoroughly impressed with Dirt 2 (the graphics of course, and the physics and driving engine seem to be a big improvement over Dirt 1), I'm thinking the rally game for rally fans to buy this winter is going to be GT5 (damn, I wish this game wasn't an exclusive, because now I'm going to get flamed for that). If you want to drive fast and crash hard in a game that looks good (and aren't that interesting in the intricacies of racing), then Dirt 2 seems to be for you.

I was very disappointed with the demo I know Colin passed away but its too Americanized was the first thing I said even before the first race, I've always considered rally to be European and find it loses its credibility in this game and loses its class, I hope Rallisport challenge makes a comeback on 360, even people that wearn't into racing games had both on Xbox they were top notch rally games. Too bad they turned this game into a product placement American mess

Just setting the record straight, I have nothing against Americans, just the big-headedness that comes out sometimes and this game is a prime example

Oh Canada!!
