Activision gives us the opportunity to pilot the famous attack helicopter with Apache: Air Assault, this Autumn on PS3 and Xbox 360. From the developers of Wings of Prey, Gaijin Entertainment, the game offers you to fight evil terrorists in Africa, Middle East and Central America through 16 missions. It will also feature a local coop mode and a multiplayer mode.
Press Release:
LONDON, UK – 15TH JULY, 2010 – Activision Publishing, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI) announced today that Apache: Air Assault will be released this autumn for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system. From acclaimed flight sim developer Gaijin Entertainment comes its first helicopter combat game, where players control a variety of lethal Apache attack helicopters outfitted with cutting-edge military weaponry. The goal in Apache: Air Assault is to prevent terrorist attacks by raining down destruction from above in the world’s most volatile warzones.
Apache: Air Assault features more than 16 multi-stage missions involving air and ground strike operations off the coast of Africa, the mountains of the Middle East and the jungles of Central America, each meticulously created using high resolution map data from real-world satellite photography. Apache helicopters are some of the most sophisticated combat aircraft on the planet - the player gets to fly multiple variations of them, each with their own extreme firepower and highly-detailed damage modelling.
“No games on next-gen consoles have been dedicated to helicopter combat simulation, but that is about to change this autumn”, said David Oxford, Activision Publishing. “Apache: Air Assault offers fun for diehard military enthusiasts and flight sim fans as well as gamers who just want to blow stuff up.”
The game can be played based on the player’s tastes - Arcade Mode allows players to easily pick up the controls and jump right into the combat. The Realistic mode showcases the real depth of the title, where the dedication to realism and precision shines through. The local Co-op Campaign Mode lets two players team up in the same Apache with one as the pilot and the other as the co-pilot in a joint effort for a truly authentic combat flight experience. For those that want to go even further, Apache: Air Assault includes competitive online multiplayer matches such as Team Deathmatch, Ground Attack, Capture the LZ, and Ground Strike.
Apache: Air Assault will be available this autumn. The game is not yet PEGI rated. For more information, visit www.activision.com.
Seems interesting. Although it would have been better if they added different aircraft like the AC130, Stealth Bomber, A-10's, F-16's, etc. Can't wait for a trailer.

Ironically, it looks way better. : (
Am i understanding you right if i assume that you mean 3dmark 2000 looks better than this? In that case you need to go get a new pair of glasses buddy.
For this type of game it looks pretty good. You have to consider that a lot of resources go to the environment here, and you can't really use occlusion like in games where you are in the environment in the same way so...yeah, i think it looks alright.
Remember the days when games like this were plenty, anyone remember Extreme Assault?
If they would sneak in Airwolf and the copter from Reign of Fire it would rock.

@Seth: Maybe you know what the point of the laser dot attatchment was? All it seemed to do was fuck up your aim and add a stupid amount of recoil. Was i missing something? (1 Hour ago)
Seth
You can use shootdodge even if your bullettime meter is empty! Reached ''bulletsponge'' enemies-they are cake if your aiming is decent. For guys with helmets two shots in the head are enough.:)) (1 Hour ago)
Seth
Forgot to say i use shootdodge a lot, diving all over the place. Maybe that's why i have a lot of fun with the game? Actually is much more dangerous to stay behind the cover in this game. (1 Hour ago)

I love this theme SO MUCH especially the first few seconds how it begins!
So we got A-Team as a new generation movie now all we need is Airwolf!
But this is the biggest question...
