Trailer PC

Arma 2 is finally available, and the lunatics who sleep squeezing M4 against them and who know by heart all the moving parts of an Abrams tank can now enjoy the new war simulator from Bohemia Interactive. To celebrate the release of the game, here is a new trailer, listing all its main features.

I think it looks cool, but so did the first one and the demo for that was horrid. The ArmA 2 demo (PC) should come out sometime within the next week or so though, and it will have loads of content (single/multiplayer).

I look forward to giving it a fair shake.

The game is amazing. It destroys anything out there visually and it does it without being scripted to the millisecond.

I have the game. The explosions are phenomenal, check Youtube for 1000, 1500, 1700 AI dynamic battles at night.

That look's pretty amazing...They have a very good lighting model that gives it that extra visual umph, even if the models and the textures aren't flawless.

I'm very interested to know how the AI works and if games can start to lose the scripted-sequence crutch for dynamically adaptive AI. Especially in the trailer they say that there are no set objectives for each battle? That's true "open-ended" gameplay, huh?

@Viginti_Tres: If you didn't know, there's a slew of gamers that like realistic/sim like shooters. Ever hear of Project Reality Mod for BF2? They'd eat this game up in a second. And I might too.

The new 1.02 patch might help you out a little. It is just a case of balancing options until you hit a decent framerate I'm afraid.

A very good game that will go over the head of most console gamers too conditioned by crap like COD and BF. Its very ambitious, and most games would struggle to do half the things this game does. Its buggy at times, but thats expected with a game this large, been enjoying it immensely.

I was with you up untlil you called Call of Duty and Battlefield crap. Simulation doesn't automatically make something a better game.

Scroll wheel and middle mouse button is the key to interacting with vehicles/people.

If you are running/driving/being driven through a safe zone then don't hesitate to use the - and = keys to change the timescale up to 4x to make it a lot quicker.

The best advice I can give is stay low and if bullets start flying at you stay even lower and find cover.

environments look pretty nice, especially for the scale, characters and animations are laughable tho. i just saw some footage on youtube of a guy jumping out of a plane and it was the funniest thing i've seen in a while...guy looked like a cardboard cut-out he was so rigid.

not my type of game tho, i appreciate realism from a visual perspective, but too much of it in terms of gameplay just sucks away all the fun.

Well, hopefully.

Supposedly the original game has its merits, but the demo was shit. Hopefully they release a better demo this time around. Hopefully they included some of the improvements from the patch too, since they delayed it to get that out it seems. I hope it releases early this week.. it will only be about a week late :/

ArmA2 demo should be released this week hopefully, was supposed to be last Monday/Tuesday but we're holding it back for that extra bit of special love, it will include SP, MP (for up to 16 players) as well as the mission editor, the demo will easily have a longer lifespan than most full games these days :)
