Wii

Sega officially announced the coming of Samba De Amigo at the Nintendo Wii concert. Gamers will be able to shake both the Wiimote and Nunchuk like real maracas with the help of the sombrero monkey. This rythm production is developed by Gearbox Software and scheduled somewhere in 2008 in Europe.

This game is pretty overrated. I remember playing it for Dreamcast and being shocked that there are only like 3 songs in it.

Nice! I really didn't think this'd happen. Then again, I didn't think NiGHTS 2 or Sonic in Smash Bros would happen either.

Let's see.. I don't think Jet Set Radio Wii will happen, nor do I think Space Channel 5 Wii will happen.....

....

Get on with it then!

Hmm, I could've sworn there were only 3 when I played. Maybe the other ones were unlockable, I don't know (played at friend's house). A game doesn't have to be popular to be overrated, by the way. Overrated simply means that something receives more praise than it deserves.

Awesome, I love games like this, and yes, lets hope Space Channel 5 doesn't happen.. ;)

@Synce

I guess if it was on the PS3 it wouldn't be overated at all :S

Well, that's not very many either. When Guitar Heros and Dance Dance Revolutions come out with 50+ song lists, 15 is piddly. Doesn't lend itself to a lot of replay value.

But SURELY the Wii one will have plenty more songs.

I was just about to say that. 15 songs is a paltry number for a music/rhythm game. DDR Extreme has like 90 songs, 50 something in guitar hero 2, at slew of songs in the pop n music games and so forth. Still, i've heard that this game is good so a chance to actually play it is always welcome.

For reference; Sega Rally had 3 tracks with one secret track. The new one.. well let's just call it "more tracks".

Although there is a bit of a difference between something like DDR where you have some polygon dancers in the background, or a super produced game like Beatmania where you essentially have a music video playing, and a game like Ouendan, Gitaroo Man, Space Channel 5, et cetera.

I have to be honest and say I dunno in which category this falls. I didn't play it on Dreamcast, and much like Megido I appreciate another shot at it.

What the hell people

This game came out so long ago, 15 was a good amount back then

Not only that but it was a huge risk for Sega when it came out, not to mention a game with maracas was a lot more difficult back then.

exactly, more praise then it deserves, how exactly can it have more praise then it deserves when very few people have even played the game.

I have this on the DC, complete with the maraccas, anyone who say's it is overrated needs a slap, the game is pure SEGA.

I really love to know what version you played . Becasue the USA version had 16 songs , plus you could also download 10 more song over the web , some classics like Out Run ect . If one has the Maracas , then this is still the best music game on the market today imo , and was a huge risk for SEGA given the cost of the motion sensors back in 1999/2000.
I wonder if the we version will have the tracks from Samba ver 200 as well.

What ever the Wii version won't be as good simply down to no Maracas :)

What? Did you play the first two on the Dreamcast? This is a rhythm/music game, and it's damned hard too. Samba is easily one of the better rhythm/music titles out there, and it's nice to see Sega continuing the series. Hopefully they put the slide moves from Samba v.2001 in this version, as that never made it's way to the US and I didn't get a chance to play it.
