Computer generated art website CGSociety just released a couple of Halo Wars artworks, showcasing Elite and Spartan models created by the SFX company Blur for the CGI trailer of the game released last year. It's a bit off-topic but since there are not that much news to talk about, let's just enjoy and praise these renders, because they look quite awesome nevertheless.

ELITES look great, but the spartans look reminds me of the marines for some reason.

Don't expect in-game to look quite as good. But these are still nice to look at.
The Elite's red eyes are EVIL!
Brutes look great, but the spartans look reminds me of the marines for some reason.

Anyway, the renders look great.
It would just be awkward if they looked like MC's latest armor.

But if Ensemble is taking a similar approach to RTS' like say Massive Entertainment is doing with World in Conflict or what's being done with Quake Wars, then Halo Wars would function differently and we might need some of that graphical detail.
I probably should admit that even though I like RTS', I think that the RTS "tradition" of building units during the middle of combat is stupid. I don't want to have to harvest nuts and berries to grow a Spartan.
BTW, the original CG trailer is still the greatest thing I've ever seen on an HDTV. It just blows my mind.
As far as I remember, they didn't get their armour with full sheilding and such until shortly before the events of Halo 1.
