I think people generally are too negative towards these remakes. Have tried both of the games and the graphical overhaul is bigger than I thought it would be.

I think the issue is that the porters fuck with the art and atmosphere too much. If it was just a straight remaster, maintaining the look and feel of the original, people wouldn't care. But they straight up change things for no reason, like batmans face, or just flat out render hair in a way that looks god awful. It fucks with peoples memories of games they loved.

Moral of the story. Port houses need to leave shit alone!

Yes. In-house is the proper way.

I agree with you to some extent but, in this case Halo 1 and Halo 2 Anniversaries was much worse in that regard. The Silent Cartographer suddenly looked like an tropical island which didn't make any sense at all.
I just mean that it seems to be unreasonable much hate for these particular Batman Games while some other remasters have gotten away quite smoothly.
Most people aren't really even complaining about the art differences you mention, but point to the fact that the graphics actually are worse from a technical stand point.
That's not even close to be true, just a few of the character models in the cutscenes appear to be worse than before. Other than that, it looks much better.

Just check this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hNsT6g9SEAw
They've done a quite massive job on textures etc. Just compare stuff such as the brick wall - it now holds up very well closeup.
Alot of other remasters haven't been that ambitious that way.

Thats just what I meant, they could have stayed closer to the original look and feel at some times though, you're right about that. But I'm very satisfied with the graphical overhaul overall. Much more so than I expected to be.

Technically speaking its a graphically better game than Gears of War 4 for instance, which is brand new triple-A release based on the same Engine.
