A month before release, giving them zero time to fix bugs, if going by their latest betas.

Not sure if serious. They crushed a ton of bugs in the last few weeks of BF3's development. Did you play the beta? :D

But yes.. probably the final month. The open beta is more of a stress test.

then god knows what the state of the game was like straight off the disc. I think the ps3 versions still fucked.

I just remember that ALOT of patches followed the next couple of months. Hopefully this one's abit more polished before release.

And hopefully the beta's not one crappy corridor map like BF3's was. Be nice if it was a big open one. I think the pc beta had more than metro though right? another map was added later?

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. The game was fairly polished (compared to the beta) on day 1 on the PC. Which is what asdfg is talking about.

As far as frequent patches go. I wish they were more frequent. They made us wait until your patches were certified. It really slowed down the process of refining the games balance.

The beta is likely going to be very similar to the E3 build. I expect it to be Shanghai again.

WoW ... one month ... I guess either they feel they are so confident in their future beta build (assuming they don't give us the same one from e3 to test) or they are little embolden by their 50 million user count on Origin .... when devs let popularity get their heads

I wonder how this games going to be on current-gen.

I am unsure as to whether to get it for 360 or save it for when I ultimately get a next-gen machine.

I just think they should start beta earlier, look at some games running betas for months before release, the games actually feels finished when they come out.

They already had a closed alpha. You're right though. They should have sold an open beta to people and still shipped a buggy product ;)

I never played BF3 MP (I'm a BF1943, console, player), but I think that Battlelog - and other progression sites - lacks the most important "stat" on a player profile: average ping.

I don't know if it's even possible to track the latency of each client on a server, but you can't really compare the stats of a player that has an avg ping of 50 with one that plays with an avg of 200 ms.

For example (and in my opinion), a player with 150 ms avg ping and a 2.0 K/D ratio is more skilled than a player who has a 3.0 K/D and an avg ping of 50. So, in a sense, the lack of this data (avg ping) kind of defeats one of the main purposes of these sites/stats trackers.

Who plays with 200 in ping? When I was on 56k modem i used to have 250-300 ping.

I'm sorry, but this is really, really wrong. Firstly, the desperately between a 2.0 and 3.0 KDR isn't going to be covered by 150ms of ping. You're making that leap either by skill and tactics or not at all. Secondly, in a game that where latency is punished properly, no one in their right mind would be playing with a 100+ millisecond ping. There's no reason for you to be playing on high latency servers. Thirdly, Battlefield (and most modern games, unfortunately) has horrific anti-lag netcode that actually rewards latency. So those 100-200 pingers clogging up all of the servers are actually an advantage, if anything, because the game starts behaving less and less predictably for players with normal pings.

In any game playing with latency isn't doing anything but stripping the predictability away from the game. Learning to play well at a high latency isn't really the same set of skills as simply playing the game well. And it's detrimental to all other players. The days where low pingers had an unfair advantage are long, long gone. In those days we were all on dial-up except for a few "low ping bastards." The role latency on the player population has virtually reversed itself.

Win/Loss ratio compared to quit percentage, compared to weapons used and accuracy, compared to KDR, etc. You can get a "whole picture" of a players performance pretty easily by looking at all of the numbers.

That's the point! I can't answer your question because such data is unavailable, haha!

I'm just kidding. But on a serious note, I guess that many people play with bad ping. It's probably a non-issue to some of you guys - that lives in EU or NA - but for the rest of the world, it kinda is.

And it's not only about internet speed; a country's internet infrastructure and the physical distance to the servers plays a big role too. Just to give an example (mine, haha!), my average ping to NA's PSN servers is 250-275 ms, with an 15 mb internet "speed".

But I digress. The point of my original post was just to highlight that making the avg ping "stat" available (if possible, of course), would improve battlelog.

What would improve the game dramatically is if servers automatically kicked people with high pings. People should not want to play with high latency. Instead of rewarding them and encouraging them to muck up all of the US servers, we should be encouraging them to play on servers in their own territory. I can ping 100ms across the friggin Atlantic Ocean. There are very few excuses for people to be playing on servers THAT far away from home! Daytime BF3 is horrible thanks to all of the European/Asian/Russian players that play on US servers.

K/D ratio is one of the worst things to include in a game like BF. DICE should grow a set of bollocks and fuck it off. There is nothing worse than playing with a bunch of wankers who are infatuated with their K/D. Recon players, I'm looking at you.

Mixed feelings. If you want to actually be good, you have to be completely aware of your performance. Including KDR. I don't care how good of a team player you are. If you've got a negative KDR you're feeding the opposite team tickets. You're not actually helping. But I hear your complaint. I don't really understand why it happens. I mean, is your KDR really worth bragging about if your most used weapon is a nube tube and all you play is Metro? We've seen plenty of that!

I obsess over my stats. All of them. I would hate to see it go personally.

Alot of games have that feature, or at least a kickvote function so you can vote out ppl who dont have the sense to join servers in their own region.

But stats don't really tell you how to play better & I'd imagine alot of players, who aren't performing well, wouldn't know how to change that performance by looking at their stats.
