Trailer PC Xbox 360 PS3

Electronic Arts reminds us that Battlefield Bad Company 2 is now in stores (or will be very soon) with this quite nicely done launch trailer. Our own videos will be coming later today.

Can't see this selling very well. There are too many other big games about for a pretty generic shooter like this to stand out. Why would anyone buy it when they could get Heavy Rain for example? BF just isn't in the same league, nowhere near.

Not for an fps fans. And there is much more of them. I finished HR in 8 hours and I won't be playing it again for a long time. Game is spectacular but replayability is nowhere near of that of BF.

are we seriously comparing Battlefield to Heavy Rain now?

That's ridiculous; get back on topic.

I played it for about five hours yesterday and was very impressed by how fun the game is in conquest mode. Then EA's shit servers crapped out and it wouldn't let me into any more games for the rest of the night. So that really pissed me off.

It did force me to try the single player campaign though and I must admit, they did a very good job this time with the SP. The graphics are simply stunning, especially in the jungle settings. One of the best looking shooters around and easily the best sounding shooter on the market. Sound effects are without peer.

hardcore mode is also a lot of fun for those who don't like the more arcade style damage model. But they did lower that as well so even in normal mathces it no longer takes a million bullets to drop someone.

So far I think this is their best game yet for consoles.

That is your opinion. This game will sell extremely well. It's everything but a generic shooter. Have you ever played a battlefield game before?
Yes I've played most of the BF games and rate them all as competant but totally unexeptional and totally unoriginal.

They're both video games, and so both compete for my limited gaming time. Or are some people only able to play one genre of games?

Heavy Rain represents originality, BF does not, so I choose the former.

That's ridiculous. 1942 was a shot in the arm for the genre, and BF2 took the formula to new places. There's not a single other FPS game or franchise that represents the variety of gameplay found in Battlefield.

Unoriginal and unexceptional my ass.

Oh, and it will sell exceptionally well too.

So anyone who disagrees with you is a 'troll'. Riiiight.

Maybe some people just prefer games with originality at their core, instead of just another 'be a soldier and kill people' game.

Not with me, but with millions. You just chose the wrong game to diss, have you seen the reviews? It pretty unanimous that it is a great game, and you cannot game for many years if you say that this is not going to sell well and that there are too many war shooters out there better than this one.
Call of duty series and Battlefield are cream of the crop, specially multiplayer wise.
I naturally respect your personal opinion if you say you don't like it, but stating that it's not going to sell well is extremely shortsighted

You're obviously not into mutliplayer FPS games, or you would be able to see past the surface and recognize that there's loads of original gameplay here. Loads.

Maybe some just play games to have fun, and don't care if it's "just another war game," especially when it's filled to the brim with variety and original gameplay you can't find anywhere else. People also like games that reward skill and pit them against other human players. These are all things that you don't really seem to interested in. You say you've played "most BF games," yet you also claim that they're unoriginal and unexceptional, which isn't something that you'd actually take away from the franchise if you actually put any time into it. If you think this is a generic war shooter, than you haven't given it a proper chance. Period.

You're wrong.
