Bayonette maybe in french right???
:P
As for the rings I like them honestly, its just something diferent for a change in a action game besides they are angels and they lose their halos if they get defeated.
In fact the combo list and dodging would warrent Ninja Gaiden and God of War if any comparison was valid. Though obviously without the bad design of the former and mashing of the latter.
To even compare the combat system in Bayonetta with that in NG or GoW seems pretty sill.
Bayonetta is the exact opposite of that, with 99% of it being predetermined chains and delays, and a couple of command moves. With some advanced tricks using dodges that aren't really tricks but just there to keep flow lost in similar attack branch orientated games. Yes, similar games. The games I mentioned, whose comparison you deem "silly" that are all about attack branches, delays and dodges. Like Bayonetta.
And to finish. Having a dodge isn't the same as rewarding dodge with slow-down. Devil Trigger is certainly not the same as Torture Attacks. I suggest you play through DMC1/3 to realise that just because something looks similar visually doesn't mean it's controlled the same. Thanks.
So in DMC each weapon has one combo string (varies in dmc3 if you use sword master skill) that can be varied in different ways by delays and a few more weapon specific moves. Bayonetta comes along and says screw that, let's add more combo strings for each weapon. That's the difference i see. You can still make whatever wacky combos with weapon changes that you want, you just have more stuff to choose from this time around. I at least don't rely on just the combo strings in the Bayonetta demo, i cancel them to launch an enemy, continue my combo in the air and so forth.
On another note games that "are all about attack branches, delays and dodges" basically encircles every third person action game ever made. And to even insinuate that God of War, Ninja Gaiden and Bayonetta should play fairly alike is just draging them all over the same edge.
You don't have more 'stuff' to choose from because your 'stuff' comes with prerequiste attacks and, unlike command moves, can't be used on demand. This is basically the point I was making in its entirety. You can, however, abuse evade to skip attacks in a chain.
Clearly I meant they were the focus and even clarified this once already, which I won't do again. I also never said they all played alike (clearly NG and GoW do not), I said if it should be compared to any game it should be those over DMC.
