Fifa 08 is back after a shortage of images. David Beckham, recently switched to the Los Angeles Galaxy american club, is practicing on the field with its new uniform. Prepare yourself for massive damage, soccer ball!

errr what is with the strange depth of field going on. Every character has a strange "focus aura" around them where the background is in focus.

Either a bit of photoshop or some of the most lazy depth of field i've seen yet.

The Background was unsharpened with some kind of Programm I think. On Pic 5 you can see it best. Maybe they did it, because the Audience aren't finished yet oder something like that.

that pic 5 is just horrible. ive just noticed in some places you can see the crowds faces and they dont particularly look impressive, also note the fact they are all stood up lol

The blur DOES look like a real shitty photoshop job. As for the rest of it, i guess i'm kind of impressed. I never saw a soccer game that looked this good before. But then again i don't really give a rats ass about soccer so maybe thats it :)

Ya, the crowds don't look that great. but I would rather have the power go towards the players and action in the stadium than the filling around it.

I'd like to know the size of the obv big ass monitors they got at EA! fricken resolution is crazy.

Not interested tbh, Fifa07 was either stupid or buggy as hell, the computer could complete hack your players to peices, you tap a guy with a tackle, and its a red card! And knowing EA i doubt they've done anything more then a roster update, just wait till they reveal the yearly gimmick that will make everyone want to buy it!

What the hell is up with that "aura" around him? Did they try to cover the non-blurry gaps between the players and the crowd with photoshop.... and did a horrible job at that? He didn't use smudge tool, did he? ^^

Seriously, why would somone entrust the pics to someone who has no idea of photoshop???

despite how it looks, its not photoshop. just look at the depth of feild in anything from call of juarez to killzone 2, they all have a weird "gap" around them if the focus difference is too large. clearly they cant quite get smooth depth of feild quite right atm.

Scary eyes indeed. The models look very good from far away, but closeup of the faces are just fugly.

it would be funnier if it were you instead of a 31 (?) year old professional athlete who has had his shares of injuries.

The thing with the eyes
EA tends to get lazy when it come to making the bodies/characters for their games
IE giant heads (NFL) or crazy eyes (Fifa) crazy gaping mouths (NHL). If I played the basketball one I'm sure I could find one there too.
Like in these screens you can tell it doesn't matter to them if the hands match the player, or if the eyes look natural.
The graphics are nice in these, but I'm getting really tired of their screenhots coming from a replay system that glorifies graphics without showing the actual game (also NFS). Replay allows them to do things like blur backgrounds or make these characters very detailed, but it shouldn't matter almost since it's a top down game.
