Developer Diary PS3

Beyond: Two Souls could very well be Sony's last big game to be released exclusively on Playstation 3 so there is no doubt it will be closely watch over the next few months. Here is Episode 1 of the game's making-of, focusing on how it all started for David Cage. Quantic Dreams' new title will be released on October 9.

It's too bad it has an idiotic supernatural theme. Heavy Rain mostly worked because it was grounded in reality, but this, it's all over the place, and the moment you introduce magic into a story, believability drops to zero.

I dunno. Movies do it perfectly well while remaing "believable", i don't see why games have to be any different. Granted, QD's track record for the paranormal isn't great, but i'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt...if only because heavy rain was so damn good.

I am positive that I'm not the biggest fan of this genre on this site, but I do appreciate the production values and story telling of it. Looking pretty decent. Have a nice day, mates.

JASOOOON!

Seriously though, i'm always interested to see what these guys crank out, but i'm not expecting to be impressed. I really dislike Cage and i sort of imagine that if they just replaced him with a more competent writer, they could be making really interesting experiences.

I couldn't name a singe film that has ever made magic seem believable. You either goo 100% fantasy, like Lord of the Rings, or you go 100% real. Anything else is just a mess.

Most horror movies rely on "magic". Paranormal activity for instance as one of many examples. It may not be realistic because it's about something that doesn't exist (same goes for the extreme fantasy films like your LOTR example), but it is done in a believable way. Why are games exempt from achieving the same thing while retaining grounded characters and settings?
