Massive shame that they didn't put the demo up on the European Marketplace/PSN, as I would have loved to try this out. Unless they have now?
The aiming, movement, everything. Even the guns make me think of Gears.
No one else sees that?
Look at the executions too!
If I stripped out all the interesting art, character design, and what little color Gears had, this is the game you'd be left with. Basically Gears sans style.

Alrighty then.
This game is completely blatant and lacks anything original about it. SORRY TO SAY
All you need is a Marcus Phoenix character model in there and it's production values are the only thing separating them

You seem to have ignored that part, also the way the damage is done to robots is not in a lot of games if not in any game I can remember, the AI is way better too, this game if anything borrow more from ME than from Gears but it seems you already set your mind in thinking is not worth of anything.
Though of course when I see it in simple design like running around in third person, cover, d-pad weapon switch, thats about it really.
Taking the simplest shooter designs to a bigger proportions to say "its a copy" is nonsense IMO.
Gears have tank like movement controls, this dont. Its more fluid and smooth to move around in this game, and you can command your team around with various stuff for them to do and they will change their attitude depending how you treat them in combat.
Enemies that gets their parts blowned off will still come after you and blow up and a kamikaze move.
This game offers small touches like that that sets itself apart from Gears of War.
In Gears all you do is cover, shooter...rinse and repeat.
I agree with Raptor by saying this is closer to Mass Effect considering you can order your team around, has light RPG design to it.
Also, Gears of War reminds me of Kill.Switch. Oh wait :P
Movement looks very much the same, especially when carrying weapons. Aiming looks the same, guns behave the same.
In Gears your opponents aren't necessarily dead once shot either. Then comes in the executions that look the same when they're down.
We can argue this all day. I realize plenty of TPS games get a hard time for "copying Gears". On this occasion though, to me, it's not just the cover system (which most people ride), it's basically everything with the exception of the terrible player models and terrible art direction.
Also go ahead and make the ME comparison. That's fine. That franchise shit the bed for me too since it became more like a generic action shooter just like this game. Granted ME still holds onto scraps of RPG elements, but oh well.
This game is generic and will be forgotten among the sea of big name titles in no time. Don't worry guys.
No surprise here, no wonder we will get pure western crap like Uncharted and Gears from now on.

If I can enjoy diversity and games from all over the world, if anything is your problem cause you can't enjoy other countries take on games.
Like if you go to a rental video store and you only like movies made by westerns, same thing.
