PS2 Xbox

EA sent us this trailer and a couple of images or their upcoming Xbox-game Black. The video is about 70 seconds long, and half of it is fuilled with logos. But that won't make you watch the video, so I'll say: "Check it out for some high quality gameplay madness!"

What's funny is, texture quality aside, it looks better than a certain "next-gen" FPS flagship title. ;)

Not really, the only thing that looks ok in that vid are the particles/explosions and the destructible environment.

Yea, and guess what? All of the first waves of games (nextgen) are mostly based as a graphics presentation of the system

ANNDDDD Black has been in development for a LONNGGGGGG ass time, if Next Gen games had nearly as enough time, this game prolly wouldnt even be on my radar

Are you suggesting PDZ hasn't been in development for a long time?

Make no mistake, technically PDZ is a much more impressive game. What Criterion have done is selected a theme and an atmosphere that everybody is really into (dark, "mature" terrorist shooter) and they've used what they have available on current gen systems really cleverly. People are blind to the tech feats of PDZ because they can't stomach the colours and the "happier" design. People keep implying that it's less impressive than current gen stuff like Doom 3, but just because you don't understand what's going on in a game visually, that doesn't mean it's ugly.

This is remarkably pretty though, and it could rock a lot if they pay attention to the actual combat, not just the environments blowing up. I saw a bunch of videos on gamespot (check them out, they're pretty good) and I was like "woo, oooh! Wow! Yay!" and all that.. I even noted that they're going with a Haloesque grenade throw which I really think should just be a standard in games like this already. *Waves fist at Half "oh dear, it's 1998" Life 2.*

My main concern is how the AI and level design holds up and how seamlessly they integrate the destruction into the game. I'm really not keen on the thought of attacking buildings just to see them fall apart, I'd like to have stray bullets in firefights do the damage unless there's some logic to destroying the environment.

I began by saying "aside from the texture quality" as in "technical aspects aside"... This game has better production values than PDZ, period.

please don't tell people to shut up. It doesn't help your argument.

well it all looks nice and all, but it all looks like a lot of clever tricks to me (e.g. the shafts of light) I'm sure after playing the game for a while that you'll start to notice the tricks they've used then it seem far less impressive.

As for PDZ I think it looks sweet as, as mentioned it's not in a style compareable to black.
If you want to compare black to a next gen game then take a look at Gears of War which looks sooooooooooo much better then black.

INDIGO: I didn't direct it towards you in particular, there's just a general notion going around that PDZ doesn't push anything visually because people have problems with the way it's all shiny and happy. If you break it down, PDZ features a plethora of effects you just cannot do on Xbox. That's all I'm saying. If Black looks cooler to you, if you like the "mature" and dark style and you think it looks cool when shit blows up in it (I sure do) that just doesn't mean it's technically more impressive than PDZ. It just means you like the themes of Black more.

I recognize that you said textures are better and I should be more specific in my comments perhaps, but then again, I hate to pick on a certain person because that often just leads to personal attacks. My post was a reflection on a complete bunch of posts in the past month aswell as comments in the other thread about the Black presentation.

Actually, people are saying all the game creaters in Xbox 360 is going for an art design. I don't think that's true. I may have said this before, but DOA4, and Perfect Dark Zero, can't be going for the same design, Gears Of War is actually also a bit similar. There is either a problem with the console itself, or the makers of the games are weak in working with next-generation systems. Black is more impressive. Perfect Dark is definetly higher and better, graphic wise, but when looking at an xbox vs xbox 360 comparison, Black is much more impresive. That's probably what the previous people were trying to put across.

I cant understand how people can compare this with PDZ in graphic terms.
Its gameplay seems to be good but graphical it looks 100 years old comparatively with PDZ.

futromurzyna, I said TECHNICALLY. And if you don't agree it's because you simply don't know what you're talking about.

If you think this looks more appealing to you, fine, go right ahead. If you're telling me it's on the same or a better technical level you're plain lying.

Drop the attitude aswell, please.

Okay, pointers for the other side, if you noticed, the only impressive thing is the gun. You end up looking at that for about 1/3 your screen the whole time, but the explosions and people look worse than Halo 2 graphics. This doesn't include physics however.
