Press release Xbox 360 PS3

Zen United and Arc System Works have just announced that Blazblue: Continuum Shift will hit European stores in October 2010. In addition they sent us this trailer focusing on the new features of this episode.

Press release:

BRISTOL (Thursday 3rd June) Zen United / Arc System Works are pleased to announce that BlazBlue: Continuum Shift, the sequel to the acclaimed Calamity Trigger, will be making its way across Europe in October 2010 on Xbox 360® and PlayStation® 3.

In addition to the already-stunning HD 2D graphics and progressive fighting mechanics that have made it one of the most exciting entrants into the fighting genre in recent years, Continuum Shift will be delivering a wealth of improvements and extra content to satisfy everyone from hardcore veterans to BlazBlue novices.

Continuum Shift will deliver;

A BRAND NEW STORY
Following on from the events of the acclaimed Calamity Trigger story, this new chapter introduces 28 individual stories, voiced in both Japanese and English. BlazBlue: Continuum Shift offers twice the story content of its predecessor.

7 NEW CHARACTERS
Including the sinister Hazama, the deadly Lambda, brutally efficient Tsubaki and the ungodly power of Noel evolution, Mu.

15 NEW STAGES
Featuring more of the gorgeous, detailed 3D backgrounds that give BlazBlue its unique style – the total battle arena count now stands at a massive 29!

4 NEW MODES
BEGINNER MODE: Replacing Calamity Trigger’s Easy Special, Beginner Mode levels the playing field by introducing an innovative control scheme for novices.

TUTORIAL: Directly answering critics, Continuum Shift offers an exhaustive tutorial teaching the incredible breadth of BlazBlue’s strategies and tactics.

CHALLENGE: A massive master class of 300 challenges that will take you through every character’s unique specials and deadly combos.

LEGION: The compelling single-player Legion Mode from Calamity Trigger Portable returns. Recruit fighters to your army and take territory from your opponent in an enhanced version that features new, more complex maps.

REFINED GAMEPLAY
Expect your favourite characters to have some new tricks up their sleeves! Arc System Works have tweaked and refined the incredible fighting mechanics so BlazBlue plays better than ever before.

With such a wealth of new content, BlazBlue: Continuum Shift is a real step up from its predecessor – and helps cement its position as one the freshest, most compelling fighting experiences you’re likely to play this year.

BlazBlue: Continuum Shift will be available around Europe in October 2010 on Xbox 360® and PlayStation® 3.

Wow. It looks so much better than the original. But i wonder if it will be worth a purchase.

I can't remember a game i regretted buying more than this one. I think i was just blind from my fanboyism to Guilty Gear.

The first was overshadowed (un-fairly IMO) by SFIV. This, too, seems likely to languish relatively unheard-of. But give me Aksys/Arc Work over Campcom any day.

Seven new characters? A tutorial system? This might be worth getting even if you got the first one.

A story, eh... Doesn't really matter much in games like this.
Of course worth getting only if you have someone to play with, preferably many people. The game looks great with nice designs and stuff but it's hard to tell whether it's worth to get, even for fighting games players. So many games to choose from...

might pick this up and try to play it seriously if it releases in europe at a reasonable date. I like Guilty Gear a lot and BlazBlue seems to be in the same spirit, as i guess is to be expected since it's Arc :P

Yeah, the only reason this isn't GG is because Arc didn't have the rights to that IP themselves. BlazBlue is the Crysis to GG's Far Cry.

Which is too bad since i really like a lot of the characters from Guilty Gear, and the ones in Blaz Blue that are the quite obvious "re-imaginings" feel a little less sassy than Ishiwatari's original bad-ass cast. But hey, they are still good characters and the gameplay seems to be good so i'm there. But like said, i want a PAL version a whole lot faster this time around or i'll pass once again, cause i'm sure as hell not going to buy a game when an upgraded version is on the horizon.

I've played it. It's an amazing game. It's a must buy when it drops. If you're a serious fan of fighters, you have to get this! This game blows everything out of the water. The only other great fighter that will be on par is King of Fighters 13. And who said something about story not mattering?! Are you a retard?! With 30+ hrs of story in the first one which was a great story unlike all other fighters out there with crap stories minus King of Fighters and maybe Soul Calibur, how can you say such a dumb comment and not smack yourself? BlazBlue is for the hardcore. If your a casual gamer, BB will turn you away. I never heard of a HC fighting gamer that didnt like BB. It's sad, but if you didnt like the first one, stick to SF4... This game is 4x better than the first BB which IMO is better than the crap SF4 turned out to be. SF3 is better than 4.
