Trailer Xbox Series X PC

The specialists in horror thriller at Bloober Team announced The Medium, their new project set to launch in Holiday 2020 on PC and Xbox Series X. BLOOBER TEAM ANNOUNCES PSYCHOLOGICAL HORROR GAME, THE MEDIUM, COMING TO XBOX SERIES X AND PC IN 2020

KRAKOW, POLAND - May 7, 2020 - Bloober Team, the makers of Blair Witch, Observer and Layers of Fear, today announces its largest and most ambitious project to date - The Medium.

Launching on Xbox Series X and PC in the 2020 Holiday season, The Medium is a tension-fuelled, psychological horror game built around a central motif: how your perspective changes your perception.

Players will find themselves in the body of Marianne, a medium hounded by visions, living and interacting across two worlds: the real, and the spirit world. Nothing is what it seems, everything has another side. As a medium with access to both worlds, you have a wider perspective and can see more clearly that there’s no one simple truth to what others perceive.

“Every one of our games has a central theme that drives its creative and technological design. In The Medium, we focus on perspective and perception. When you change your point of view, you discover that things are more complicated and nuanced than you initially thought" - said Piotr Babieno, CEO at Bloober Team. "The Medium is our most ambitious game ever and we can't wait to show you how we're translating this vision into a psychological horror."

Akira Yamaoka, of Silent Hill fame and Bloober Team’s Arkadiusz Reikowski are working together on the game’s original ‘dual’ score, creating truly unique atmospheres across both worlds.

“The inclusion of the legendary Akira Yamaoka - best known for his work on the Silent Hill franchise - is a dream come true. We’ve been inspired by many of the previous games he has worked on and are thrilled to bring a new one to life with The Medium.”

Developed and published by Bloober Team, The Medium will launch on Xbox Series X and PC during Holiday 2020.

This got me intrigued. At first I thought it could be one of those 2 rumoured Silent Hill games, when the soundtrack kicked in I was almost sure as the music was extremely similar to that of the Silent Hill games, then they revealed the title and I was surprised.

After they revealed Akira Yamaoka is the composer, it all made sense. That along with the aesthetics and theme, no wonder it felt like a Silent Hill game for a while. The developer on Inside Xbox seemed very passionate and even said Silent Hill 2 is considered the best Horror game of all time by most of the developers of the game - which I wholeheartedly agree. I hope they deliver on it, even if it's 50% as great as Silent Hill 2, that's already a great game.

intrigued, mainly from a visual standpoint. Blair Witch looked stunning at times. they also seem to do horror and atmosphere well.

This was perhaps the only game at the show that looked beyond current gen to me. Well Valhalla might have had a more advanced lighting model than other AC games, but difficult to say when no unedited gameplay was shown.

If this is anything like Alan Wake I'm in. The whole psychological aspect could draw some similarities if there is at least a bit of action in the game.

Alan Wake? This is Silent Hill, not Twin Peaks.

it is definitely a Silent hill Inspired game. it even has the world change element in it like Silent Hill but with the taste of next-gen SSD (look at 2:00). looking forward to seeing more of its gameplay

i guess they are vage, but that is still a cg shot, in no way is this a Comix Zone were going from real->hell versions is like ripping a comic strip.

The beginning was CGI but all that was shown after the writer's little talk are in-engine. apparently the developer confirmed my theory as well:
I can't tell you right now about our most important feature, because we will have to save it for later. But the gameplay mechanic built around those two worlds couldn't be fully realized on current-gen hardware... for the immersion that is crucial in our games, it [the SSD] was the best feature.

Bummer. I'd rather see a new Alan Wake style game than Silent Hill. Well, I'd take both actually.
