What does that have to do with anything? Especially considering this is a turn based strategy and risk management game, not actually a football (hand lemon?) game.
Also, if it's nything like the first version, and sticks to the real blood bowl rules, it's NOT a bit of fun for the weekend. It's hard as hell, and getting in to it and playing effectively is not something you just do. It requires strategy and experience. Just look at what a clusterfuck the polaris Blood Bowl tournament was, TotalBiscuit seemed to be the only one that even understood the game :P

Uh.. you could totally describe football as a turn based, risk management game.
Considering the rules i think you could do it just as well with hockey or soccer (aka actual football). It fits very well thematically though, no doubt :)

Actual football? No, actual drama class. Best performances ever. Never has a flop been so believable. The flopping to scoring ratio is too damn high!
Its a sport where you kick a ball with your feet. Football. American football is a game where you toss a lemon-shaped leather thing with your hands, have huge homoerotic dogpiles and possibly brak your spine. One is clearly deserving of the title football, the other not so much.
A ball doesn't have to be a sphere dude. A football is not the only non-spherical ball in sports.
Football was originally a generic term used to described any medieval sport not played on horseback. You're playing on foot. The word "Soccer" was invented by the British, and it's slang for "Association Football." Americans didn't invent the name "soccer," or steal the name "football." We just kept it. Just like the Australians.

Not really trying to smack talk american football, i just don't think the name really describes the game. The term Football just better describes what's going on in soccer. Not that i particularly like soccer, just saying :P
