Video Xbox 360 PS3

Let's continue today's racing games frenzy with Blur, the unlikely mix of PGR and Mario Kart by Bizarre Creations. Many people still have reasonable doubts concerning the game so the team behind it has decided to show us how fun it is in this second dev diary focused on power-ups. Some new images have also been released. The game should ship in early November.

Am I the only one that thinks this is wipeout but with cars...

Get the feeling bizarre where bullied out of doing a standard racer so thought lets just add power ups.

Sounds alright, it's kind of a mixture between Mario cart and Wipeout. Could be fun but I think the Split Second approach to racing games will be more interesting.

No, you are not the only one. It's exactly what I said when I first saw Blur in action a few months back.

Yeah, I too think Split/Second will turn out to be the better game . . . but only because I think Black Rock Studios is a better developer of racing games than Bizarre Creations. Still going to get Blur though. Looks like a lot of fun.

No, I too am liking what I see here. Besides, after four titles in the Metropolis Street Racer series, I think Bizarre Creations has done far more than enough to earn a little faith from gamers that they can make an awesome racing experience. Reason enough to get excited about Blur, right there.

Looks alright, but if you're gonna make power ups and all that, add even more... make it like whacky racers but with cars :) Make the levels more vibrant and silly to match the type of gameplay.

Have faith in Bizarre since PGR4 was one of my favs, sure it'll be fine

I was not impressed when I first saw this game but it is looking better and better each time I see it. I guess I was disappointed it wasn't another PGR type game as Gotham was my all time fav racing series but Blue looks like it might be fun, especially in multiplayer.

other then motorstorm and burnout, that is if by "fun" you actually mean fun arcade games. i mean, some people think the likes of forza are fun too.

this doesnt look great tho tbh. split/second looks so much more interesting, this is basically rumble racing with licenced cars. if it did a bit more with the power up's i'd have been a bit more interested, but as it is they're all standard fair power ups, hell, most of them have shown up in the midnight club games for years now.

the game does have split screen tho (4 players too) so i'll give them credit for that. i think the game is going to do pretty horribly sales wise tho. i just cant imagine it doing very well at all.

Something really doesn't sit right with me on this game and I've been struggling to put my finger on it. I love fun racers, be it motorstorm, burnout, GRID, wipeout. But I also love my sim racers, GTR, Forza, GT series etc etc. With those games, it's clear what the concept of play is, burnout is fast and furious, with awesome crashes, wipeout is manic futuristic hovercraft on rollercoaster tracks with cool weapons. Blur though, uses real cars, and seems to be set in the present day. Yet they have crazy wipeout style power ups and the speed of light seems to have dropped by so much, any light source leaves a stream behind it. Fantastical games are just that, set in fantasy worlds. Yet this seems to be the boring modern day with OTT power ups. If they set this game in the future, with crazy hyper cars, then the power up system would be ok.

Yeah, I agree........ or not :D because it looks like a piece of sh!t. They should release this game on the Wii. Only on the Wii.

Bizarre are doing a good job trying to win skeptics like me over my showing more footage like this. But it still sounds too simplistic, definate lack of powerups. And like some people have already mentioned Split Second seems still be a winner, if Blur had environmental damage that would be sweet.

lol got to love the scouser accent "Blare" :D

It's starting to grow on me, this. They need to stop being quite so 'Try-Hard' with this whole Power-Ups thing...

WE KNOW IT'S GOT FUCKING POWER UPS!!!!

Now, if they said the power-ups were triggered by a cock-ring controller (included with the game of course), then that would be interesting, but as it stands, very boring now.
