Stawars meets Halo Reach meets Mass Effect meets some science fiction shooter. Well, I do love the environments and skyboxes. They look epic.

One of the best artstyles i seen, especially on the characters with the cloak/cape. Armor + cloth combo is always welcome to me.

Wait for Modern Warfare 4 and BF4 if you dont like creative artstyle in your games.

Or play games for their gameplay and recognize the value in both. Crazy idea.

BF4 and MW4 will play like their previous games guarenteed, nothing special about them.

Which has nearly nothing to do with their setting. Do you know what else played like Battlefield? Battlefield 2142. If you think a games setting dictates the creativity of its game design, then it's not the developers who lack creative vision.

Most of the time it has to do with the setting/timeline. The far more into future the more gadgets and armor abilities...etc. you can create.
I mean if you have a FPS in modern setting, modern military shooter at that...what do you expect from it to sets itself apart for unique gameplay from other titles? honestly i cant see much going for it. Warfighter, MoH2010, BF3, CoDs...all of them plays the same.

But then games like Biohock and Crysis does completely different things to FPS genre that does set them apart, and since you played both series i dont need to tell you the differences what makes them unique compared to other FPS out there.

I rather take games like Killzone, Halo, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Destiny..etc. were settings are unique and creative, a new world.

They can do unique things like BFBC2 where most the environments were destructible
I also think the vehicle combat sets Battlefield apart from everyone else.
It's when they start to move towards a COD system when things get more stale. That is what is popular though.
At the same time it's not the fault of those behind the COD games either. They struck on something with perks, and just straight up action all the time. Everyone just wants a piece of that pie.

I also don't want to bring this topic down with bullshit about other FPS either. This game looks awesome and fresh compared to all the franchises you just listed (with exception to Bioshock).
I'm excited for it. Be glad it could change up and challenge the norm. They have all the resources to do it for sure.

At the very least you should be excited about a company that has an amazing track record with how they handle their online component in all their games. Which is huge considering they've been console games.

But I am talking about core gameplay what your character is able to do, I mean destruction to environment doesnt add anything unless its in MP and you want to flush out campers so thats more of a technical thing than gameplay.
And vehicles, also another thing that takes advantage more in MP, and I hate using vehicles unless its a way to get me from point A to B in very long distances.

Then again, i look at sci fi games like Halo and Killzone and they also do nothing special...I guess it is up to the devs to do something creative on the story around the character rather than building different worlds and have pretty art.

For example Halo 4 had awesome locations and all, but I couldnt play it for more than 3 hours because it felt like a borefest of a gameplay. Was nothing special I didnt experience from Halo Reach, with gimmicky tools like cloak, jetpacks...etc. that you could never keep and use anytime. If you could, then it would be a different story.

And Killzone, well its a run and gun with great artstyle and thats the end of it, nothing special whatsoever to the gameplay.

Now Destiny, Warlock is a class that seems to be something cool, going by the describtion they given us so I definitely look forward to that class gameplay.

Good post. And I agree it's a pointless discussion. There's so much you can do in any setting. These are video games. The sky is the limit. The statement that COD and BF "play the same" says it all. Since they don't. There is probably more shared gameplay between Halo and Call of Duty now. And I'm not simply talking abou gunplay and movement, even though there is plenty to set those fanchises apart even on the most basic levels.

Someone in the what's up box already wanted to compare this to everything else just because of a holo sight. Come on people. Look deeper.

Ye they unveiled it at sunday and they might as well gtfo with it until it's announced for PC, along with their retarded comments how keyboard and mouse are obsolete and nobody's playing it that way anymore.

If there were any game worth comparing this to, I'd say Planetside 2 would be closest with what we know so far. They've sort of set the bar quietly

My only concern is Activision's influence

All aboard the hype train!!!!!!!! Snap judgments are riding in car 5!!!!

The makers of Halo are making a not-halo Halo. I'm sure it will be top notch work, i was just hoping for something that would push Bungie beyond their comfort zone and innovate...this just kinda looks like more of the same, but far prettier.

I found Halo CE great, 2 and 3 was alright, never played ODST since it didnt appal to me. Halo Reach, I liked it ALOT (most memoriable to me). Mainly because there was brand new spartans and Master Chief wasent in it.

So basically only 2 Halo games i liked personally.
Even devs with great trackrecord can fail at one point. Bioshock, Visceral, Team Ninja, Capcom, Rockstars, just a few.

Destiny may have more room for creativity because it doesn't have to be as authentic compared to a hyper real military shooter, but I still don't find the art here very inspiring. I mean, it's not bad at all, but it isn't really blowing my mind with it's unique-ness.

Thats my point, creativity is what i look for (though it depends artstyle to artstyle obviously), thats why I stick to sci fi shooters when it comes to shooters because there is something different from the "every day modern authentic" stuff i seen countless of times, for me thats boring.

Could be good. But then again, it could be bollocks. I don't know about anyone else here, but I'm getting a bit of a Haze/Lost Planet vibe to all of this. Not entirely a good impression to get. I think Bungie are getting slightly ahead of themselves talking this up. I mean, they are talking about a 10 year plan here. How do they even know this will take off enough for it to last 10 years? Fucking hype building, cynical bollocks as usual. Just get the first game out the door and then we'll talk.
