Activision revealed Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 yesterday and gave some details about the game's features. We only have for the moment the reveal cinematic as well as the first screenshots. The title, releasing October 12, doesn't feature a single-player campaign and focuses on multiplayer, three Zombies experiences and Blackout, a new battle royale style mode. The PC version is developed by Beenox, it will feature uncapped framerate, 4K, HDR and will be available on the Battle.net platform.

And yet millions will buy, the industry in general will continue to go to crap, and people won't learn their lesson. This kind of garbage for $60 is killing the gaming world IMHO.

I wouldn't pay $30 for CoD title these days though. Bring back the original CoDs that had quality SP campaigns, fun multiplayer, AND, gasp, free maps and DLC. The greed these days is unreal.. and so are people that continue to pay $15+ for a few maps.

Millions upon millions play Fortnite Battle Royale but not only because its good, its FREE. The big question is, will this backfire on Activision like Infinite Warfare did a game that came with the same cocky "just deal with it" attitude.

yup . i really do not get it what is wrong with a fucking single player campaign beside a multiplayer ? activision must create a f2p CoD:online or even 60$ and do all the shit in that forever . and then they just release single campaigns every year .

I'm interested to see how sales are going to be affected by dumping the SP. If the sales are not affected, then I'm sure other devs and publishers will follow.

I'm sure they'll have used player data to measure the risk. They probably expect some losses in sales revenue, but I'd assume the money saved making it in the first place and the money earned monetising the MP and BR modes compensate for those losses.

Once again, even if the next COD is nothing but a zombie mode, it will sell at $60 a pop. There are so many mindless sheep buying that crap on day 1, it's unbelievable. Look, I've bought several entries in the series, especially in the early days but I've been burned so many times now, I won't be fooled again.

It's almost like EA and Star Wars. I have zero faith in them after wasting $60 on Battlefront II. I am sure there will a Battlefront III and it will sell millions as well..

Interesting isn't it? MP only experience is getting stronger, but yet SP games are showing it's true capabilty by making more and more complex histories, gameplay and praised by the media, I wonder how this cold war will end up with

I do not think COD fans care too much about SP anyways. If they get it right it may not matter much. If I am not wrong BO usually have better SP than MW so it should have been other way round. I do not think other games can take such risk though.

And people keep praising God of War for its single player but when you play that game you can feel the blood and sweat that went into creating it, it's astonishing and not something so easily replicated. It would be a needless risk for CoD to make such a commitment when millions relish the wine and light breathing it takes to conjure up their entries.

Looking at teh gameplay streams online, its like they reused a ton of stuff from BO3. Even the sound effects sound like BO3. The graphics engine certainly hasn't changed either. I was expecting at least a re-haul of the graphics engine if they weren't making a single player. But instead, they cut off single player and is releasing what would be a DLC for Black Ops 3. That is bad!!!!

The problem with what you are saying is that COD reuses their graphics engine without much improvement from year to year. Only saving grace (at least in my eyes) was that they released a SP with a different story that was the size of a full retail game. So it seemed justified to not call it a DLC.

BUT, if there is no campaign/SP, and they are indeed using what looks like the same graphics-engine with majority of the old assets, I don't see how they justify this as being an entirely new game. They really should call this DLC for Black Ops 3!
