Press release PC

Capcom is feeling generous for the 25th anniversary of the Street Fighter saga. It is in a retro look that Mega Man will confront the cast of the legendary fighting game. Street Fighter X Mega Man will be released on December 17, 2012 on PC for free, as part of the festivities. Take a look at the trailer, and press release.

Two Beloved Franchises Collide For the First Time in Retro 8-bit Glory!

SAN MATEO, Calif.— December 8, 2012 — Capcom, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, recently shared plans to release a new fan-made crossover title featuring two of the company’s most iconic franchises. Street Fighter® X Mega Man® will celebrate the closing ceremonies of the 25th Anniversary of Street Fighter® and kick off the festivities taking place in 2013, when Mega Man takes center stage as “The Blue Bomber” reflects on his own 25 years of gaming greatness. The Street Fighter X Mega Man game will be released as a PC download beginning on December 17, 2012 and will be offered to fans for FREE through Capcom’s official website, Capcom-Unity.com

“Our fans have been so supportive of the 25th Anniversary efforts on Street Fighter, that we wanted to provide one last surprise and token of our appreciation,” said Christian Svensson, SVP of Consumer Software at Capcom USA. “This game symbolizes the passion and dedication of our fans and with the 25th Anniversary of Mega Man coming up, we felt it was our duty to bring this wonderful experience to everyone who has shared the last 25 years with us and both of these celebrated franchises.”

Involving a true collaboration between a company and its fans, Street Fighter X Mega Man was created and developed by Singapore native Seow Zong Hui (aka “Sonic”), with direction and support provided by Capcom. The game stars Mega Man and features eight original Street Fighter-themed levels and bosses inspired by the legendary fighting game series. Each boss character will utilize their individual strategies and special moves against Mega Man, as players attempt to mega blast their way through each uniquely charming 8-bit world.

In addition to the retro look and feel that embodies Street Fighter X Mega Man, an original soundtrack created by Luke Esquivel (aka “A_Rival”) provides a classic backdrop to the action. Amazing mash-ups of memorable Street Fighter and Mega Man® themes complete the crossover of the century!

This is just an attempt by Capcom to make themselves look good for a lot of their angry fans. This is a fan made game that Capcom simply put their name on and packaged as a "generous gift" on their 25th anniversary, when they really had no actual plans to do anything. The only real service Capcom did is to allow this fan made game to be completed without sending them a cease and desist. But really, they are just trying to save their own ass.

What a freakishly bizarre thing to say. Games like this are the very definition of video games. Raw playability where to survive you need to practice, concentrate, and keep your eyes open.

Whatever, its not bizzare its fact.
All they do is remake old games into a bundle or something or new games and remove parts and make them into DLC.

I also think you misunderstood my post.

This is a remake? I totally forgot about the first one!

This is fan service. If you're not a fan you're not going to get it.

I didnt mean remake on this game specifically, but in general. I meant re-releasing old games into current consoles, I played Mega Man and SF games, i dont see the point in this one.
If its fan service for Mega Man fans why not make a brand new Mega Man with current gen graphics and such? I bet fans would appreciate that more? or hell, even "remake" it like Bionic Commando Remake.

You litterally just complained about remakes...i don't get your issue tbh...is it the retro visuals your bothered about?

i rather have Capcom focus on making new IPs or sequals to games that could use them, like Strider and Onimusha. I am not a fan of remakes from retro, same visuals and all that just into current gen, there are emulators of that.

If they do remake a retro game, IMO they should look how Bionic Commando remake was and follow their steps.
