Video Xbox 360 PS3 Wii PS2

Activision publishes a trailer and three images of the legendary Carlos Santana, modeled from head to toes for the needs of Guitar Hero V. The result is rather... curly.

They are making too many of these games. Finally another sequel rather than another spinoff. Every month there is a new Guitar Hero coming out and it is starting to become like a Madden or any other sport game. They need to take their time rather than worrying about the money. Im just tired of seeing so many of these games now. I mean before World Tour came out I was hearing about this one. What type of **** is that!?!

I may get some heat for this comment, but if anythings ruining the videogame industry, it would be music and rythm games. I can't believe that after so many versions of Guitar Hero and Rockband that the devs haven't done anything new with these games as far as gameplay. Yeah, the games' have well rendered models, but it's like nothing more than watching a cutscene or prerendered video that the player has no control of. I thought someone would have done a story mode/rpg mode by now. I'm not saying to strip away the gameplay, I'm just saying that the devs are robbing the industry by releasing whole retail games every few months with the only added content being soundtracks. SOUNDTRACKS, not gameplay, but SOUNDTRACKS. Anyone who's ever played a guitar knows that these games will never help you play better. They can keep releasing these games, but if you play one, the experience will not change from one to the next. It's like trying to point out the differences in Pacman and Mrs.Pacman.

If someone is ruining the market than it's Activision with its half-hearted "new" GHs. There are only 2 Rockbands and the AC/DC "Track-Pack".
I don't know what they want to achieve with Lego Rock Band.
GH 1+2 were good games as are RB1+2 but GH3 and of course the crappy world tour weren't that exciting.
Like omegaheat, I tried to think of new ways for music and rhythm games but I think RB2 does a great job and I can't think of real good new game mode.
Also I don't get your point in "the only added content being soundtracks". Music games are all about SOUNDTRACKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've bought about 200songs for RockBand and about 20songs for GH and that's way more expensive than buying a new game.
Nonetheless I like my music and rhythm games and I think they can bring people to listen to "real" music and start learning to play real instruments.
The guitars train your coordination of your fingers and the speed of moving them and playing the drums is almost like playing a real drum except you don't use your second foot/leg.
I played guitar and drums for 2 or 3 years in real life when I was a teenager and RB and GH brought back the fun in playing real instruments. Now I bought a new electric guitar and I'm starting to play/learn it again....

Funny how Activision are now EA, - the big bad of the industry, pushing out endless dull as ditch water 'sequels'/re-releases, while EA themselces are putting out original titles people are actually interested in.

Please everyone, do not buy Activision games anymore.

Even Modern Warfare2? Halo's multiplayer's been flooded with cheaters ranging from controlers that have rapid fire and lock-on to modified ways of augmenting the network and matches. I need something else for my fps fix until something else comes along.

Have you seen Activision's EU pricing for Modern Warfare 2? It's absolutely disgusting. Blatant gouging.

I won't be buying it. There are tons of other good games out late this year.

I'm not from EU, I am from the U.S. and I do think it's disgusting the way the publishers price the games over there.

Im looking forward to these sort of games when the Natal hits us...Imagine you rocking with your very own stage moves in your living room now that's something that will reinvent these games...

I think it needs something a little more robust than that. For instance, whilst the PSeYe has been doing this exact thing for ages with Singstar, it turns out people rarely have a living room that resembles anything they'd want to see a mirror image of. Then take into consideration that the Wii will have little/no support for such a feature.

To re-enliven (is that a word? Who knows...) the series, they'll have to do something radical. Like for instance the ability to pick and choose where you play your next gig, and what songs you play. As you gain experience the songs could become harder to play, as you gain cash you could buy new instruments resulting in a sweeter sound, and as you gain notriety you gain permission to cover more songs.

The main drawback they have at the moment is licensing. Remember the number of covers in the original game? Well this is a tried and tested method now, so it's time to mix it up in the same way Gran Turismo helped define a new standard for racing. You don't start out in the nicest of cars, and gaining the relevant licenses is another barrier to where everyone wants to be in the game.

Just my two bits...

Well, Natal doesn't have to represent your living room, but copy your movements in 3D to be replicated by the avatar of your choice on the GH stage. In that way it's nothing like the PSeYe.

But for a multiplat game, doing something that only one console can support wouldn't be that great an idea. Especially seeing as, compared with competitors Rock Band, GH is actually the most 'multiplatform friendly' game when taking release dates/instrument compatibility into account.

Does sound a good idea though, unfortunately I'm the chap sitting on a stool with their tongue stuck out in concentration, not sure even Natal could faithfully represent that spectical :S
