Bo! Bo! Bo! Bo! Bobo!
Anyway, looking good visually...funnily enough after playing the Bayonetta demo, I am looking forward to that more, technical shortcommings aside the combat system is pretty awesome
I guess I'm just too addicted to racing and online MP games like most gamers these days. SP games just don't usually add near as much fun or challenge as playing with others online. The SP is suffereing for sure in the industry, but when online is usually so much more fun, it's getting harder and harder to sell games based on single player.
Anyhow, I think the game has promise, but I think the stragety of trying to "out bloody" god of war is not going to work. Without the proper gameplay balance, all the gore in the world won't make a game worth playing over and over like many seem to do with GoW games.
i will say this is looking to be the closest thing to that "god of war" feeling tho. the story isnt taking a back seat to the game which is great imo. i do wish it was more then just god of war in hell tho, it's not looking like they've taken inspiration from god of war, it looks like they're trying to clone it, be it the gorey, viceral combat, the moves themselves, the cinematic camera angles and how the camera behaves etc. and if that ends up being the case, i'd rather have the original then the clone.
either way i'll give this a rent since it is looking pretty good, but then i love god of war and everything about it so i'm bound to like the look of this. not keen on the main characters design tho, and the graphics could do with a lot of work. but it should be a decent action game come release. certainly more interested in this then bayonetta
Uncharted is another game that cloned many other games to create a formula a lot of people liked. I don't see cloning as too huge an issue, but this seems far more similar too GoW than most other games that borrow ideas.
Hopefully the Dante's Inferno story will be enough to overlook the shameless copying of GoW gameplay and camera angles.
Of course it's going to be more Hollywood plot than the poem (they have a Hollywood screenwriter on board), so it will be interesting if that's bad or good.
You can't be serious at all can you?
NG and DMC has the most polished and perfect combat in this genre, the closest one is Bayonetta but even that is very DMC like.
NG and DMC are only famous for their combat and IMO NG is the best one for those who seek out very technical stuff for each weapon, while DMC is more like a stylish combo fest on one "dummy" until you keep ranking up with style.
God of War has a good enough combat to m ake us go through the game to enjoy the epic scale and feel of the world, and Dante's Inferno is doing the samething.
The combat is very accessable, nothing crazy like NG or even DMC, but has some nice depth to it (so it seems) enough to make us enjoy it.
The real third game I am looking forward to that has story, visuals, combat and music and voice acting and even design, is Lords of Shadow, that one looks just fantastic so far, from animation, to hit detection to weapon impact.
For example I saw GOW3footage from E3, some of the hits felt empty, the enemy doesn't seem to react to the impact from that the weapon was or at what force, it just felt weird.
Not saying its bad, its good enough thats all.
About Dante's Inferno, its somewhat the same with God of War, more or less.
I just hope the controls are responsive, hit detection is there, animation feels fluid and the weight of the scythe is there, because after NGs scythe its gonna be hard to compete.
This may very well do the same thing. We won't know until both are out though. I will say for myself, environments and enemies are already more interesting to me than GOW3. That is just me though.
