Hearing them talk about it in the interview it just sounds like they are trying to make a even gorier and more disturbing God of War. But i guess i should reserve my until i get to try it at least.

Dead Space was my last years most favorite game so Im looking forward to this. Normally Im not a bit fan of scary or dark games but in dead space everything was perfect when it came down to style or controls. Hope that studio can deliver two in a row.

I'm glad they're pulling the stops to give you a horrifying impact...but, in honesty this could be goty and never even touch my expectations for it.

I don't think it's possible to get gorier than GOW. They pulled some really fucked up stunts in Europe to get press for that game that I don't think anyone will top.

After seeing God of War 3, I don't think that games should get any gorier than God of War. Talk about gratuitous. It's starting to border on Saw-like murder porn.

I have been waiting for a great concept of of demons vs angels, hell vs heaven, all that in medieval era, I love it, big fan.
But I seriously hope the combat delivers, thats the only thing I am worried about.
If the combat is just as good as the art, atmosphere, story then I am putting this on my purchase list.

But I do have hopes for the combat because of one thing...the guy who worked on the combat in previous God of War titles, is working on this...that is atleast what read when this game got announced.

Anyway, please Visceral Games, make it good and you get my money!

I see a distinction between gore from a blade swipe, or grenade going off and gore from ripping someones head off with their bare hands or shoving a grenade in someones mouth. Not sure were I stand on it- one is cause and effect, the other is sadistic. Having been a soldier myself, the consequence of battle is something you can deal with, but when your motivation is to cause harm beyond that which is necessary... I'm starting to lose interest in the torture gore I was into when I was younger. Sorry to get too serious on you guys...

Like anyone, I've got no clue how good/bad it will be, but by hades if i'm not frickin' tired of God of War theme yet another round. This for one, looks a much nicer place to decapitate and slash rotten corpses and demons.

^ When I was younger( jr. high/ high school), I used to alway draw really gory, nasty stuff. You know, morbid stuff. And now that I am older( and more experienced) i don't find the unneccessarry gore that interesting or appropriate. If you slash a dude with a sword, you expect blood and such, but if you rip off his head with your hands, that is a conscious choice to cause unneccessary suffering. What's not to get?...

Whilst the concept has me intrigued, the fact that we haven't seen any gameplay whatsoever really has me worried. Are they trying to build it up and then blow us away, or are they ashamed of something?

I kind of agree with Frozpot, exaggerated amounts of blood and gore and general nastiness just feels a little juvenile. Ofc there should be blood if you lop someones head off with a scythe but referring back to the head-pulling scene in GoW3, that's just tasteless and dumb.

Just commenting because of all the gore talk, that's all. Sorry, it was only vaguely related to this topic :P Is it bad to relate how we feel on a little deeper level? As for this game, hopefully it is good, cuz' I like the premise...

kratos needed the guys head as a usable item, kratos being the god of WAR...i think it's perfectly suited for that character to act in the way he does.

Mhm, casue it's not like Kratos carries around 2 huge damn knives ;) Just cutting it off would seem sufficient to me, instead of having a 30 second scene of seeing Kratos tearing the tormented head of Helios from his neck. Personally i found it to be a rather disgusting scene :P

I mean, the only thing i can think when i see that is "what kind of a sick fuck would enjoy watching this?"

Don't get me wrong, I thougt that scene was very over the top. But did it make me feel uncomfortable? Not really. I'm still very much aware that it's a video game, so the exaggerated gore doesn't really bother me.

looks good,

kinda reminds me of how beowolf was turned from an epic poem and into an awesome movie.

again, here we see an epic poem turned into an awesome video game.. i mean, storywise, we have a tragedy or epic story here.

Characters are all there, hellish monsters, huge boss battles and scenaries? 9 levels of unimaginable locations

so they got everything for a good game, all they needed was a good gameplay system, the hack n slash didn't do, have to showcase the epic awesomeness, so they used QTEs which GOW pretty much made sure is awesome

don't see how this game might not deliver, all the materials are there.

If i ever got into the video game industry, i would definitely do something like this..take a great story, mythology and create an awesome single player game

me, it was awesome, but then i enjoy the manhunt games too. if it's fitting for the setting/scene, i dont see the problem. the scene was bad ass imo. i kinda find it crazy that people are that sensative over such imagery...especially after films like saw and hostel which are a damn sight more graphic then any video game so far.

the only game i've seen that i feel the gore and language is OTT is prototype, that seems to be a game that is selling PURELY for that gore and language...god of war has alwasy been gory and graphic. it's what makes it god of war. taking it away would be like taking stealth away from MGS.

I didn't mind either God of war 1 or Chains of Olympus, i just think this was a step too far, but i guess different people will react to different things.
