I have to admit, when DaS1 came out, I didn't want to touch it. It sounded hardcore, felt scary and I hated the idea you'd lose some progress if you'd die twice in a row without picking up your souls where you died.

Then I just went for it and tried DaS1, it felt decent. But I gave up before I knew the ins and outs about the game's mechanics.
The combat system is so simple, but once you get the hang of it, it's so crazily addicting. Yes this really depends on tastes, but that's a trait of being an individual.

DaS2 came out and I decided to try again and dive right in. The graphics aren't the best, but the gameplay and atmosphere surely complete the whole package. (using GeDoSaTo to pump up the looks a little on PC) Tried going the easy road by making a character that completely focused on physical defence and physical attack. It worked, but after 50 hours I decided to make a new character and focus on light weight armor and going for the sorcerer's approach. This completely changes the way you play this game.

It's pretty cool somehow, that you're just thrown in the deep and with not knowing what's around every corner or illusory wall it really feels quite scary sometimes. You decide how the game will play by focusing on how you gear up your character. Going for lightweight armor and agility? Going heavy weight, but sacrifice it for fattyrolling (very slow and short dodging)? Going for a greatsword with your lightweight character?

I can't wait to get the DLC and dive deeper into this crazily addicting game. Also, can't wait for Project Beast. They didn't plan on releasing DLC, but still did it. Does it have anything to do with Project Beast? I hope we'll see it next week at E3!

tl;dr Awesome game. Hardcore or easy, all up to you. Give me DLC.

Yeah its something special, its the only game that doesnt really hold your hand. In the sea of games that are so linear and so much of the same set piece after set piece or pressing button prompts until you win, DS is the most refreshing series in awhile.

Hmm. I'll probably get them if the price is reasonable, but my liking of Dark Souls 2 is kinda limited. Hoping the DLCs will be better than the regular game tbh.
