looks boring like the first game. i really dont get why this is so popular. Ive played alot rpgs but Demon Souls is the most boring Rpg ive ever played. no story, no interesting characters, really really lame & boring gameplay, ugly grafics & the list goes on an on. only good thing is the diffeculty. i cant belive atlus made this game :( the developers that brought us awsome rpgs like Persona 3 & 4. shame on you atlus. give us Persona 5 allready not this boring shit.

Speak for yourself. I'd take this anyday over the repetitive 200h grinding and NOT challenging experience Persona provides. I'm a big fan of jrpgs and I like Persona's style, but the experience itself is as boring as it gets. You grind and grind and grind, even the story and character interaction were turned into a grinding mechanic and you constantly fight in the same dungeons over and over.

demon souls is a repetitive grind fest..theres no getting away from that. But it also has charm to it, makes you think, and holds your attention..as it's always pretty tense.

100% this!

Demons Souls was a grindfest to the fullest with full of trial and errors including some bullshit design to the point you have to farm alot of souls constantly to be able to face the later ones.
There wasent a proper level progression either, you could keep switching levels,.

Beat 1-1 and 1-2 then go to the Shrine of Storm and start farming until your hands bleed and then you can lvl your character so high that the rest is a cakewalk.

Anyways, obviously Dark Souls will play exactly like Demons Souls, but one thing I am glad is that the art seems to be much better with its armor and bosses.
And the best thing is...the levels are brighter, you can actually see shit, which looks good lol.

But after giving Demons Souls so many tries (bought and traded around 3 times) I wont be touching Dark Souls at all.
Combat sucks IMO, its right/left swings, no combos or anything, can't deal with that.

@r0n53n:Maybe this thread isn't the place for you then. You obviously don't like DS and admitted you don't even get why others do like it, so I'm not sure why you'd still be here?

@r0n53n - It's not made by ATLUS, but by From Software. ATLUS USA just publish it America. ATLUS JPN has nothing to do with it.

As for the game itself - I'm hyped. I didn't enjoy DS as much as I expected, yet I hope they will improve few things.

Shit, I dunno. I never played DS. A lot of people really dig the combat and the challenge. Seems like legit enough reasons as anything else.

Always! lol
And WAITING for you attacks to get a cooldown so you can attack again, or auto attack (Dragon Age).

Real time combat all the way!

I like Demon's Souls because it's challenging, has great atmosphere, fun and interesting online components and lots of secrets to discover. It's a great game, even if it's not exactly centered around a narrative. Besides, i'd hardly call Demon's Souls an RPG to begin with, more like an action/adventure type title with RPG elements.

Combat doesn't always ahve to be about one bazillion moves and fast, flashy combos. Some times you just need a basic attack and a way to bock because what makes it interesting is how you interact with the enemies in other ways. Controlling the space between you and your enemy, being aware of your surroundings, crowd control, observing patterns, timing a parry and so forth. The combat might be basic, but you'll still need your wits about you to beat the game, that's for sure.

Wait you haven't even played the WItcher 2 and you have already made up your mind? I am playing through the first Witcher at the moment, and while it has some positives, it is a pretty mediocre experience. On the other hand, I have the witcher 2 waiting for me at home, and it looks pretty incredible. On PC that is, not sure how it will pan out on 360.

This game looks damn awesome though...the enemy design is second to none and the atmosphere looks amazing. I have no doubt that the story in the Witcher 2 will be superior...but this game certainly has it beat in atmosphere...

Until you get 3 fucking skeletons rolling and attacking at the same time and draining your stamina in seconds and now your damn health!

Oh yes, damn that shitty design, damn it to hell!

Its designs like that which pisses me off, little annoying broken designs from enemy layouts and what they do, but majority of time its nothing to complain.

To be frank, IMO the combat is atleast decent, but with fantastic animation and hit detection and small details like big weapons cant go through walls.
Its not suppose to be combo based, its more realistic attacks and realistically, people get tired of swinging their heavy sword.

But the only issue i have is what I said before, unbalanced enemy attacks and layouts, other than that, its a good game (wont say great because its not IMO).

Dark Souls now seems to be great, but I am definitely sure it will carry over the stuff I hate so I am very very iffy about it and have to see until release, no rush.
But considering I am a big fantasy junkie and this art looks great and have brighter levels and more awesome armor, I wouldnt be surprised if I get carried away and buy it lol

I really like the fact that you can pick your own levels..your own route. I guess thats the pay-off for not having a deep linear story path to follow.

I really hope they improve the camera for this one..amount of times i've died because of the dodgy camera obscuring my view is annoying.
I also hope the ragdolls arent so laughable this time round too...although i will slightly miss them flopping all over the place.

Really looking forward to see what they do with the online as that was the most impressive part of demons souls
