You should have bought a copy of Demon's Souls and the console that goes along with it, its not 2006 anymore.

Look the same as demon souls, this game has no innovations.

@loco123

You're so wrong. This game is a big improvement graphically when compared to Demon's Souls. I don't know about it being innovating because I haven't played the game, but Demon's Souls multi-player was very innovative and this game improves on that.

it does not need them, you are aware it's the sequal

Rap you seriously should get a ps3 and souls among many other games dude, there
is some quality stuff on there, plus the interface is much easier than 360 lol

"it does not need them, you are aware its the sequal"

That is exactly why it needs to improve on alot of things, new gameplay mechanics to set itself apart from Demons Souls but still keep the core gameplay.

PS. I have told him to get a PS3 but he he wont do it anytime soon.

Changing it from hub-based to open world seems like change enough for me. I mean the gameplay was fairly tight in the first game and i'm sure they've tried to tune it further. Then again From is a company i feel are pretty good at releasing the same game over and over with new content. Just look at the old King's Field games or Armored Core.

Not that it matters, i'm super hyped for more demon slaying :)

so what are the changes? compare to demon's souls

so we know it's more open-world...that not a great change imo, but it could work
does it still use the world/character tendency system of demon's souls? i heard it wont, but i'm not sure?
does it still have a living/dead system?
does it still rely entirely on souls? as in for currency, leveling and repair?

got the game pre-ordered and paid for already, i'm pretty possitive the game will be great. i just hope it isnt too far removed from what made demon's souls great and so (re)playable.

What do you mean?

Being more openworld makes a great deal of difference to me and even make it kind of a different type of game altogether.

If that wasn't true just see the reactions when you lose the openworldness in some games and you will see what I mean but in reverse, it does make a difference.

who said it didnt make a difference? i simply dont like the idea much, but then i much prefer linear experiences. take prnce of persia, went from linear to open and i hated it.

Oh I guess I misread then, but you did say "it was not a great change" that could been read as "its not a big change"

My mistake then, and I see what you mean now, I love PoP though :P

I agree w/ Korn on this one, I don't think this franchise needs a more open world experience. I loved the first game and thought it was the game of the year or up there with the best at least. It wasn't perfect but it did a TON things very well and the atmosphere and replay value was top notch IMO.

All they have to do is polish up some of the rough edges from the first game and that alone makes this a day one buy for me.

nice to see those who don't have a PS3 will get a chance to play this amazing game (hoping it's still close to the first game, difficulty level and all).

Demon Souls was for me the least enjoyable game I've ever played. It's an exercise in pure masochism and frustration. So difficult, unfair, and brutally unforgiving as to me completely devoid of entertainment. It's the video game equivalent of being repeatedly punched in the face just for fun.

But hey if you like torturing yourself, you'll no doubt love this.

Did you not play games during the NES and SNES era were game saves didnt exist?
If you died, Game Over, start from the beginning.

As for Demons Souls, I thought it was decent and nothing more.
As for Dark Souls, I need alot more convincing this time around, better combat instead the whole left/right swing with a sword or generic wand wrist push for magic.

combat is the one thing that i think was complete perfection in demon's souls. slow and tactical (hard/fast strikes, shield, parry and counter), and from what we've seen, dark souls retains that, for which I'm grateful. the last thing i want is combo's and needless complexity in a game like this.

I'm pretty sure i think they said that most people just got confused by the world/player tendency system and so they removed it. In the last interview i saw on GT (today) they talked about souls and what not, made it soumd like the MP component would be similar. Seeing as how you could only summon dead people in Demon's Souls i guess that might be the case again.

Becasue Demon's Souls forces you to learn or die. Either you embrace the fact that you will die a few times but try to make the very most out of those deaths and learn to avoid the traps or you jsut run in to them over and over like a tard and die. The game isn't really fair, but it tends to use the same tricks over and over in the same levels so if you are a quick learner you'll only die a couple of times. It's a game that doesn't hold your hand and i guess that's just not for everybody. Besides, what made the game fun, great atmosphere aside, was the great feeling of accomplishment when you managed to get through a level and slay a demon. That's just a way better feeling than i got out of any Uncharted or Gears game.

Demon souls was a prime example of stockholm syndrome. Those of a masochistic nature ended up loving it..regardless of how many times it cruely beat them down - that was the attraction.

To me Demon souls was pretty damn cheap. A pure case of trial and error, rather than outright challenge regarding skill. I'd rather have clever puzzles, and AI, to pitt my wits against than having to start everything all over again soon as i died. I'm hoping this new one's abit more clever and less lazy in its efforts to tease and torment the "hardcore".

There was some things i really liked about DS though. I liked the visual style.. and its great to see that being built on and not totally disregarded for this new one. I also thought the online notes was a clever idea...and i look forward to seeing just how online plays its part this time round. Hopefully PSN will be back by then...

Not really a case of personal opinion though, if you play Demon's Souls slowly and methodically you won't get killed ever 5 seconds.

Well there is an element of trial and error to the game, no doubt about it. I mean, i hated the game at first as well. I thought it was a cheap pile of shit that you had to be a complete sadomasochist to like, but after taking a step back and returning a while later, playing mroe carefully and patiently, trying to keep a few steps ahead of the game i found it to be less troublesome. So long as you stop and sneak a peak around that corner, learn how that annoying enemy moves and what weapons and such to use where the game becomes a lot easier and more enjoyable. But again, you can't just run in there expecting it to hold your hand, you need to pull your own weight in that game.

I do hope they add better multiplayer options though, like being able to invite phantoms from your friends list or local co-op. I remember it being a bit frustrating to never have the abillity to play with friends.

spoken by someone thats never played it.

The games not terrible at all.. but its VERY trial and error. You've little choice in surviving what you can not see. Luckily you're able to progress because everythings exactly the same set up throughout your second attempt.. but it does seem very backwards in its game design...regardless of me "sucking" at the game or not.

I've hope's for this one though. A more open world should allow more choices
