My most anticipated title this year!

First one was great, but needed some fixes, like a faster character unlike War (I loved War's personality and VO), but I am glad they designed Death to be much faster and agile considering even Joe Mad loves and prefers speedy characters.

And the fact its not on earth anymore, its all fantasy settings now which is always a plus to me.

The videos showned so far makes me just want this game more, gonna be fantastic if they keep up what they did with Darksiders.

You can see in the last screenshot that Death is distracted by the flat trees.

I for one, will not be supporting this sequel. Been a huge follower of the first, ever since that trailer was released (same as the game intro) like 2/3 yrs before the game release.

Only for it to leave a bitter taste in my mouth - OMG!!! the bugs. the bugs. I don't see why I should be paying for their incompetence. Jeez and this was on my PS3.

What bugs? I played it twice on PS3 and I never came across any bugs or glitches.
I guess I was the lucky one.

** Forgive me, I don’t mean to rant or otherwise. I just want to fully explain my experience, so you may know or understand where I am coming from. Sorry again for the long write up.

@ Sath, Sebastian and Plumb... I guess you guys were lucky. I could honestly list up to at least 25 bugs I came across during my first and probably last play through - Getting stuck in between doors, Puzzles not loading, Chests not opening, Freezing during dashing.... etc At first I thought it was my PS3, given I had barely touched it for a very long time.

Anyways, one day I was on justin.tv lurking... and hey some guy was playing Darksiders, doing a speedrun. I didnt want to watch, as of that time I had yet to finish the game, heck not even yet gotten any hearts for Samael, luckily the guy ensured me since it was a speed run - he would be missing alot of stuff, so in a way its spoiler free - at least right before the final stages, obviously.

Then the guy said something that would forever change my perception of the game - This game is so bugged, it’s unbelievable (something along those lines). It took a while to sink in, since he was playing it on PC and the PC version was a console port.

So I decided to do a google search... countless results - the GameFAQ related ones OMG!!!! nuff said. @ PlumbDrumb, like I said you were lucky huge threads on Steam about bug this; bug that, Stygian wouldn’t come above ground (made this one up – lol )

I still decided to power through the game, but my whole gaming experience was tarnished. Namely because the last time I played a game on a console, and be it may that I get stuck in an area and have no idea on how to proceed – quickly assume its a bug not allowing some part of the game is not loaded properly even though it may not even be the game, was like 5 yrs ago when I used to a vivid customer of Blockbuster (when their game lending service was still a viable business model) borrowing Ps2 games – since it wasn’t the property of customers. There is average probability to come across scratched or faulty games and during play through, experience those effects that in some way hinder one’s progress.

The above point is in regards my play through on the Ashlands stage – the one with the 3 drills. After unlocking drill 1. I got stuck on how to unlock the next drill and didn’t know how to proceed. With the bugs experienced before then, I was so sure that probably a bug was the cause of my none progression. So I decided to put the game down and maybe resume another day, after a few minutes later on my next play through I found how to the solve the objective and even found the secret for the artefact below the last drill.

Even though here, I was clearly not observant enough to know how to proceed, the underling point is I don’t need to this kind of thought process in my head when playing a game – “If I get stuck = BUG problem”.

Oh yeah, speaking of more bugs, I fought Wicked K five times, yes five times. Twice in the same location (Drowned pass), which made me go to other locations I originally found him, in case he might pop out there. I only realized you are meant to fight him four times after I beat the game, and was researching on google just in case I missed something about him.

Furthermore, after freeing Azrael - the "Archangel of Death” and him opening the path below him, which he said would lead to Straga – I assumed it was practically the end of the game and I would fight Straga, Destroyer and Samael, given what he said the last time you see him. So I decided to go one more world map roaming, collecting souls, consumables, levelling up my weapons, and Wrath’s Power ( not like I even used it during the game ). Since it’s the final Bosses might as well stack up.

My jaw dropped how easily Straga and Destroyer died. I mean there was no challenge none what so ever. It made me ponder on the countless time I put in, only to be handed “Zero Type” final bosses.

So there is it, which was why I said will not be supporting this sequel.

The only interesting game to come out from the US this year, along with BioShock Infinite. I hope it's just like the first game, only better in every possible way. Don't want any drastic changes.

Ah, I remember this part; I got stuck there too.
Yeah, that was a tough son of a bitch; I wasn't sure what I was doing wrong and, to this day, after passing it I still don't know how I did it.
It's a little maze cage.

Yes, the end boss was Cake.
It seemed like they built it for someone who wasn't taking advantage of the upgrades, but the whole rest of the game was demanding enough to require them that an end boss that just "folds" was a bit disappointing, although by that time I was relieved to be over with it either way.

I had enough, but now I'm ready for more.

@Virogane

You seem to have had an aweful alot bad experience from playing this, very unlucky.
I am very lucky to not countered any of those things you are mentioning, but you shouldnt dismiss Darksiders 2 because of the bugs you experienced from Darksiders 1. If anything, you could look forward to it as long as its not as "bad" as "your experience" tunred out.

If I was going to get a game and play it and I came across alot of bugs I wouldnt like it one bit at all, but I wouldnt automatically dismiss a sequal considering they could learn from the past and fix it in the future, hopefully.
Darksiders 1 was their first game the company made and just like any other newborn company with a new IP as their first, problems may show up.

Anyways, sorry for your experience you had with the game.

+1

I've got a couple of buddies working on this, so I expect great things from the combat.

I really hope this doesn't get dragged down by THQ's spiral. This is one of 3 games I care about this entire year.

Ah nice Twitchfactor, yeah the combat looks awesome indeed!
So fast, so agile, and all enemies, even big ones, react to each hit which is rare in combat.

It's an issue of configuration and specs most of the time. It's been awhile, but I don't remember any bugs outside of one specifically with the worm, but I passed it after a few save restarts.
I rather enjoyed the game, here's hoping this one is just as good, and bug free.
